we were here shortly before 3pm. they told us that the ticket is valid for up to a month, so I think you can come here also before 3pm to buy the ticket for the following day

Report Check-In

We got to the gate around 5:30 pm. As mentioned before, we were able to buy tickets for the next day. We slept with our camper just before the gate in front of the gift shops and tours. no issues. the gate keeper recommended and confirmed, it was ok for the night.
the next morning, it did get busy with the tours. we left around 6am, when the gate opened and we toured Tikal b4 everyone showed up.

Report Check-In

Recommend getting tickets online. Arrive at this gate by 7am to be in the park by 7:30 and beat the crowds. It was magical walking alone around the ruins in the am.

Report Check-In

Tikal is a thing right? Well…

- 150 pp Entrance

- 50 pp for the main campground (only for Van/Rv bc there is no functioning toilet ) > if you want one with cold shower + toilet DO NOT pay at the main gate! Go to Jaguar Inn and pay there the guys (50 pp)

- 50 pp for the “drive yourself” Uaxactun but the permit you will be get further ahead at the ticket check administration office (if you have the right vehicle to drive up there)

Have fun and enjoy the sight

NO DOGS !!!!! You cannot enter if you have a dog. We parked outside the main gate and slept outside the zip wire office then took a collectivo in at 6am. Please don’t sneak dogs in. The ecosystems are so fragile here that barking, a loose dog or even dog pee changes the ecosystem and will disrupt what they’re working so hard to protect. Travel responsibly 🙏🏻🥰

Report Check-In

150Q per person and 50Q per person to camp.
You have to pay everything at the first entrance before driving to the campground.
After 3pm, the ticket will be automatically for the next day.
Bring cash (quetzal or usd) and an ID to buy the ticket.
We were there at 4pm and the ticket office was still open

Report Check-In

Still same ticket prices. You can buy the ticket at anytime and you have one month to use it. It's per person and one use only.

Report Check-In

We arrived at the end of the day and bought our tickets for the next day. We asked for the authorization to stay there for the night with a 24 feet on the boss of the grocery store. The next day of the opening of the park at 6 AM we are mounted on the site. Well respect the speed limitations, parking agents notes the starting time and arrival. I do not know if he / her verbaisal.

Report Check-In

I don't know what to say, just pay this park... it was amazing! huge structures, the are building and reforming new ones... in 10 years this will be the most incredible "ruins park" in the world! go see! very clean and well manteined, they continuos not accepting credit card.

Report Check-In

I also can recommend the Tikal app!
It has a map which also shows the small paths, so you can get away from the big tour groups. The audio commentary is nice too, I liked it better than reading all the signs.

Report Check-In

We had a great time visiting Tikal. I highly recommend the free App “Tikal audio and picture guide.” It is narrated by one of the original archeologist that helped unearth Tikal. It has almost every ruin on it and you can listen to the history while walking through. We started around 6:30 am and finished around 11:30. My phone says we walked 8.5 miles

Report Check-In

150Q per person. Ticket bought at the entrance. You'll receive a paper that tracks the time you start the drive to the ruins and the time you get there. They do this to monitor that people to the speed limit to protect the wildlife in that area. Lovely ruins but, in my opinion, not as amazing as the ones at Yaxha!

Report Check-In

make sure you have enough quetzales to enter, 150pp. they still do not accept credit card and they only accept 50usd notes. we ended up exchanging USD notes at the shop next to the entrance but it was a terrible exchange rate!

Report Check-In

Entered at 5pm. If you arrive past 6, they said you cannot enter even if you have reservations. But we think they would let you in, but youd have to return to the entrance for you tickets.
We slept at Jaguar Inn.
We went about 6:30 next morning. A lot of people started showing up at 8am...and even more at 9am.

Don’t bother with sunrise tour. We also didn’t use tour guides and glad we didn’t. We heard several of them shouting “times up” for their group to keep moving. We were able to take our time.

Awesome place...best ruins we’ve seen.

Report Check-In

We tried to smuggle our 4 months old puppy, they asked to looked inside the van. Even after a long talk with them, they wouldn’t let us pass. We went back to the casa familia (the spot just below) and they kept him without a problem. We were inside the site by 7:00 and got lost trying to find the temples. We ended up seeing spider monkey families, we were alone with them, it was amazing. Tikal is much, much nicer then Chichen Itza!

still 150 Q pp.

saw quite some ruins in Mexico already but this was the most impressive one I have seen. totally recommend it.

Pulled up here at 8am. Entry 150 pp. Guide 300 for 2 in Spanish English guide wanted 350 but we settled on 300. He wasn't the best and it was expensive so maybe use the ones suggested below? Honestly all this 'you have to be the first one there' is a load of trot, it was basically empty until midday. Enjoy it more with a good night sleep that's what I say. Beautiful ruins though.

Report Check-In

After reading about the entrance fee we thought we could go in after 3pm and spent the afternoon in de park and the next morning. But they don’t allow that anymore. Tickets are really just for one day. You can buy a ticket, go in and camp and use the entrance ticket for the next morning at 6am.
About dogs. We know they’re not allowed but we hide ours in our car and he stayed there during diner and during our visit to the ruins in the early morning.

Tikal 150Q, Uaxactun 50Q, camping in the park 50Q, Sunrise or Sunset (guide mandatory) 100Q each. We saw tucans and parrots around Mundo Perdido complex (highlight of the trip!). Limestone trails and stairs are very slippery when wet, it's also lot of walking, trails are not marked very well, maps are poor. Worth going early morning - less people, more animals. Food in restaurants is expensive (70Q for spaghetti). I'm not sure about the free camping at Uaxactun as you need to buy camping permit at the gate. We didn't get the "speed ticket" but they asked about it when we were leaving, they also asked if we had pets and to drive the posted speed limit, no drones. Enjoy, it's awesome!

Report Check-In

150Q pp (+30Q for the museums but not worth it).
we don't think it's worth the extra 100Q for the sunrise tour. at sunrise there is so much cloud/mist that you don't see much. Normal ticket entry time is 06:00 (although if you ask nicelythey'll let you in a bit before). Go straight to Templo IV and by 06:30 the mist is just starting to burn-off. All the sunrise crowd has left and you have a crowd-free view of the temple towers emerging as the mist disperses.
In the morning the view is into sun. If you want the sun behind you for photography, go late afternoon.

Report Check-In

Even though camping options are not the greatest, it’s still good to arrive here at about 4 pm, spend the night at one of the campgrounds and visit the ruins at 6am when they open.

Regarding dogs: Not allowed according to a sign, but nobody asked us, neither did they check the car. If it stays inside your car at the campground most of the time and while you visit the ruins in the morning, you will be alright.

Report Check-In

Still 150 qzd pp from 13 years old. Free for children below 13. Attention, the main entrance closes at 6pm and you normally cannot enter the park. They let us go through but we needed to go back to buy entrance ticket the next day...17kms each way.

Greatest mayan ruins, very recommended! Entrance 150Q pp. No pets allowed. Better to take a guide tour (3 to 4 hrs), if not you won’t understand much (they sell maps but they are useless). We did our tour with Jose Luis (also recommended in a comment below) and it was awesome. He speaks perfect English and Spanish and some French. You can book a tour with him in advance, his number is +502 45976021. Just take water, repellent and sunscreen!

FYI dogs are not allowed past this gate. we paid a local kid 80Q for about 5 hours if dog sitting. we gave him 40 when we left and another 40 when we returned. seemed to work fine. keep your speed ticket thing until you return to the same gate as they requested it.

Report Check-In

Still 150 qz pp. If you want to use the ruins camping, not the jaguar Inn you have to pay here as well. nobody checked our speed but we arrive late, around 5 pm.

Report Check-In

You can't pay with credit card anymore.
We got our entrance for 100Q instead of 150Q --> The guide got it for us. It seems to be that with this ticket you can only stay until 8 AM in the park. We exited at 8:30, no issue at all.

We took the sunrise tour for 100Q pp + 100Q pp entrance fee. Tour was from 4 to 8 AM with 16 people and mixed English and Spanish. Got to climb temple 4 and watch the mist clear.

Not too bad value for money but no doubt you get a better tour with a private guide speaking just English. It won't be at 200Q though...

The guide was José Luis who has a little booth here. Very friendly.
