Latest Check-Ins

The place is closed.
Due to the amount of sargasses and the unbearable smell. It's a pity as it looked so nice.

Report Check-In

Super nice camping area between palmtrees, directly at the ocean. The place itself, the toilets and shower are very clean. The Senorita is super friendly. Place is very quiet and peaceful.
Wifi was slow or didn't work most of the time.

At the beach is a lot of seaweed and garbage. You can walk a bit to go to cleaner areas for swimming/snorkeling.

Report Check-In

Amazing place with beautiful trees and white sands like a post card
Clean restrooms and super friendly owner who gave us some fried fish
A little bit pricey but we were alone on this paradise so finally happy to pay!!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Actually the place is good described and we found it to expensive too. The place looks nice and clean, the owner is friendly. The wifi is still broken but you can get some Telcel signal (not fast but good enough for whatsapp etc). BUT: As we arrived it was very windy, so windy that it was not possible to pop up my roof top tent. It was a bit annoying to make some space in the back of my truck but.... it was not possible to swim to because of the seagrass.

Report Check-In

Nice location right at the beach under palmtrees. Clean toilet (flush, TP available) and showers (cold).
When we were there the wifi was down (apparently for 2 months already) and the sink/dish washing was more a provisional arrangement than anything else...
Therefore 125 Pesos pp per night is a bit too expensive for what they offer

Report Check-In

We had really high expectations for this campground - unfortunately we left after just one day.
Parking place is nice with the palmtrees but a bit tight, so not much room between spaces.
It was super windy at night and no shelter we so had to cook behind the car.
Sea was full of algae so very brown and not nice to swim in.
Bathrooms are clean but that and the palmtrees is basically what you pay for (250 pesos a night for 2 people).
No electrical (you have to pay extra), no wifi, no dump, no water (also extra), no hot showers.
Tereza, the owner is super nice but for that price we expect a bit more :(

Report Check-In

Very nice location. You can park in front of the sea. It’s a special vibe in this ranch, lots of palm trees, white sand, buona onda. The bathroom is clean.
Tereza is a very good host, genuine and with an open heart.
We enjoyed a lot staying here, unfortunately the wind was blowing too hard because of the season so we decided to move forward.

Report Check-In

Very nice and very small place. Very well maintained. The bathrooms/showers were amazing!! Cold shower, yet very, very nice.
Very windy while we were here. The algae/seaweed has taken over the beach and the water. If the algae is gone it, this place would be great. No wifi.
Bring your food, water and drinks. Nothing else around.
Small area, larger rigs could be difficult, yet doable.

We enjoyed our visit - it's a great location and perfect place to relax.
Wifi is ok but cellphone signal is almost not exsisting. They have a couple of friendly dogs hanging around, not ideal if you don't like dogs.
Nice, clean and save place.

Report Check-In

Great beach camping 10 minutes far from town. Nice to relax but not so good beach for swimming. Rocks and algas. Host Teresa is really nice. bathrooms were clean all the time. A lot of shadow

Report Check-In

we were there in December and water was perfect, weather was perfect. we needed a place for the night and stayed for 3. 350mxp/night for 2 adults and 2 kids to pitch the tents. such a beautiful relaxing spot. just perfect. 4.5 stars instead of 5 because dogs peed on our tents (but only twice) and they were very friendly dogs even with the kids.

Report Check-In

I just spent there two weeks. Got to Playa Paraíso before Chistmas and stayed until after New Year's Eve. The place is so beautiful, the beach is amazing and Teresa -the lady who runs the place- is such a great host. Clean bathrooms, simple kitchen, decent wifi, 4 super friendly dogs that love to play. Being Christmas I wasn't sure if it would be a good choice to stay here, because it's far from the touristy areas in Quintana Roo. It happened to be the best choice, we gathered together, the overlanders there and Teresa with her family and had an amazing dinner for Christmas' Eve. Then for NYE more friends came by and had a table for 16 people. Each of us cooked something and we had a great dinner. I felt like home in Playa Paraíso for the two weeks I stayed there. I can't recommend this place enough, it truly is beautiful and Teresa makes it even greater.

Report Check-In

Stayed for 2 nights at this tranquil location. Very clean grounds and bathroom, friendly host.
Some seaweed along the coast but nothing out of the ordinary and no smell.
Beautiful place we can only recommend. Bring all your food since it is a remote location.

Report Check-In

we stay here for 3 nights. nice Beach campsite. very clean showers and toilets. you need to buy some groceries before you go there, because there is nothing. the Town is 15km far from here. and there is no restaurant or other near by. nice to relax. very nice host woman, very friendly. we didn't speak with the Austrian host....he was there but he don't like to talk. they have a lot of very friendly dog's...

Report Check-In

Wow, this is a difficult one... the camp ground is very relaxed, very clean showers and toilets lots of shade. No cooking facilities but plenty of space to set up your camping kitchen, even sheltered. So far so good BUT there are algae along the coast here (see picture). Not only they prevent you from swimming but they smell. Bad. The wind is coming from sea to shore so you're constantly in the smell. Last couple of years it seems this has always been the case, with varying duration. Worst year so far they had algae for 7 months in a row...

We feel really bad for the owners as they have a super sweet spot here but when there are algae we wouldn't stay more than one night...

Still 125pp, if you only have a fridge to power she'll allow you without charging extra.

See pics for algae

Report Check-In

Lovely spot on the beach. Ran by an Austrian and his Mexican wife. He warned us when we arrived that the weather wasn't great and that there were a lot of insects at this time of year - he was right! The rain poured and there were lots of horseflies. And it was tough swimming as there was also a lot of sea grass. But I reckon if you go in the autumn it would be brilliant. Oh we got badly stuck in the sand trying to get out and the owners were incredibly helpful in getting us out - we wouldn't have done it without them! It took us all three hours! Oh there facilities and internet are great! All part of the adventure.

Best campground I've been to!

Thomas and Theresa have amazing hospitality. Super friendly, and always around if we needed them. Our interactions with them were extremely pleasant, and quite memorable. Thomas and Theresa went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The bathrooms are modern and clean, with shower. It's currently the low season and we were the sole campers on this idealic sandy beach under the palm trees. There are places to hang hammocks. We got to watch the moon rise over the sea and it was spectacular. My wife and I went snorkling out off the beach, and then headed south in the water and there were a few small coral heads, a small sun fish and a spotted ray. Not the greatest snorkling I've ever done, but good enough I went twice.

There are dogs free on the property and pets are welcome. We did not have any issues with our small dog and the camp host dogs, and after three days our small dog though he was part of the pack and took off barking anytime the camp host dogs did. Over half of the dogs have been rescued and the stories behind the camp host dogs are a bit heart wrenching.

We had planned to camp and go explore Mahahual, but Playa Paraiso overcame us. We did not leave once in three days. We had to leave to go to Merida or we would still be there. We plan to go back in a week when our business in Merida is complete. Maybe we will be able to use will power and go explore Mahahual then. Maybe.

This campground and camp hosts get 5 stars from me.

Prices listed were accurate. 125 pesos per person per night. A true bargain for the surroundings and hospitality.

Very friendly owners. Pet friendly.
Clean toilets. Direct on beach.
Prices as mentiond earlier are correct. I love this place.

Report Check-In

Dear Grigore,
I`m sorry that it affected you so badly. I think prices are quite clear to all of our guests - well maybe for the biggest part of them.. Just because of your first complainment, I lowered the prices. So yes, at that time it was 75/child, since then it is 60. Sounds dramatic but we are talking about one dollar. If you had told me that you buget is so tight, I might would have made an exception even if prices normaly are not individual. Water: it is delivered by the watertruck to this place and the guy who drives the truck wants some goldnuggets in exchange for it. If everybody fills his RV with water, I would have to raise the prices again. So to get to the point: Don`t expect me to fill up your RV with any kind of liquids (including oil, gasolin...) As I`m not a wizard, I usually don`t disappear. I made my point clear and finished cleaning the showers (just approximately two meters behind you). But I also have a little advise that might help you in the future: It's not what you say, but how you say it. For further informations, feel free to contact me on our facebook account.

We loved it here! Teresa and Thomas were so nice and welcoming, we really felt like family. We originally went for one night but stayed five. It was during Semana Santa, they went above and beyond to make sure we and the other overlanders had a nice stay. I would definitely go back and fully recommend. We didn't have any issues at all with pricing and found every interaction with them to be more than fair and very pleasant. Thank you Teresa and Thomas :-)

Report Check-In

Dear Thomas,
If you want to talk about fair...We agree that your place is nice and on the beach but the prices you set for us were NOT fair. We needed a place to camp for two nights. We didn't need dumping nor showers...we had everything we needed in our regular size rv (23feet) All we asked for was to fill our tank with water (not potable) and you said you didn't have enough...so no water for us. Plus you already allowed us to park our car and set up without telling us about the price change and then when we wanted to talk to you about it you had disapeared. As we told you when we came we only needed some water and even that was optional...so please don't talk about fair. Just an advice for those who visit...ask about prices and services (the available ones) before you get there and before Thomas help you park.

Report Check-In

A wonderful place. Beautiful campground, very clean cold showers and bathroom and Thomas did everything to make us feel at home. We stayed longer than we first wanted because we liked it so much

Report Check-In

If you need time to relax and like to share stories with other Overlanders: this is your place. We spent five days and met two other big rigs, three vans, a couple with motorbikes and even somebody on a bicycle. People from all over the world. Thomas is a great host. We loved the place.

Report Check-In

Dear iOverlanders,
we take any kind of critics serious and to the heart, trying not to make the same mistake a second time.
As we put the new prices just on the top of our iOverlander site, it should be recognizable for everybody.
We saperated some services so that it even stays affordable for our low-buget-travelers.
We believe in a fair use principle at our place. So staying one night just for charging your batteries, filling up with fresh water, dumping your septictank in return, having your kids for free and a discount for the adults is not our understanding of "fair use" - not against us and nor against our other guests -so let`s just try to keep it fair to everyone.
If you are interessed why we changed the prices and why we charge for children and many other questions and informations - have a look at the FAQ comment on our facebook site https://www.facebook.com/PlayaParaisoRioIndio/
We are open 24/7 -if no one is around (maybe we are just having a little nap under a palmtree..) just feel free to choose a nice spot on your own.

Hope to see you soon and as Tim Cahill puts it - "A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles."

Report Check-In

Price has changed. He asked 150 pesos per adult and 50 per child. Didn't want to negotiate not even for the 4 years old. Water to fill the RV tank was not available. Was double than what we expected to pay. Did not stay.

Report Check-In

Nice place and very clean bathrooms BUT we didn't had the feeling that we where in Mexico. We had more the feeling that we arrived at the beach in Europe. We were surrounded by germans. Also Thomas just talked to the germans in german and we feeled a little bit ignored . Kids also couldn't really swim in the water because a lot of garbage. But the owner can't help that because he cleans the beach a couple times a day.

Report Check-In

We loved everything about this place! We planned to just stay the night but stayed 10 instead. The owners are really nice and accommodating, good wifi, really clean bathrooms and showers, it's right on the ocean so you'll likely get ocean front parking, they maintain the grounds and beach really well. Pet friendly. They are building an outside kitchen for guests which will be nice for use. A man in a red truck comes by every 2-3 days with yummy tamales, some fruit, vegetables and meat. 100 pp.

Report Check-In

All the reviews are bang on! Beautiful waterfront location on a white sand beach surrounded by palms. Well maintained sites and facilities (flip flops not required to shower ;) Fully functioning wifi and electrical. TOMAS IS AMAZING! Even helped us dissect and repair our laptop charger. Be prepared to stay longer than you expected to!

Report Check-In

Wonderful maintained place in white caribe sand unter coconut palms with a very, very friendly owner Thomas. Nice and clean bathroom with cold shower. Beautiful view and quiet. You can have electricity. There is no dump for big tanks. Water is only rain water, but it works very well. Bring enough food an you can easily relax for weeks. Internet is ok, not very fast. The owner cleans the beach every day, but there is a lot of trash in the ocean from the cruise ships, thats so sad.

toller Platz zum Entspannen. Wohlfühlplatz für kleinere Wohnmobile. Direkt am Strand unter Palmem. Schwimmen im Meer weit draußen. Sehr ordentliche Toilettenanlage. Wifi ist gut.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Amazing beach front campground with power, extremely clean and maintained washrooms, Laundry and wifi. The owner Thomas is an exceptionally inviting host who is keen on solving any problems you may encounter with your Rig and had many contacts in the area to help with anything you may need. Also it is close to town but not to far to make it peaceful and accessible. Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more!! Definitely tops the list of best places to stay in Mexico I would say.

Report Check-In

Planned to stay 2 nights, but stayed for 5. Thomas (host) is amazing... keeps a clean property and clean bathrooms and communal kitchen. There is a restaurant at the neighbouring property but we didn't go. 10 minute drive to Mahahual. Very safe place due to seclusion.
Thomas arranged repairs with a local welder for us! Truly a great place at $100 pesos per person, per night!

Report Check-In

The reviews don't lie, this place is amazing. Really beautiful view of the beach. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. Clean bathrooms and great wifi. There is some trash on the beach but that's common in the area and the owner works to keep it clean.

Report Check-In

I can not say enough nice things about this place and the owner Tomas. He runs his camp ground like a full service B&B/Overlanders Paradise. He made us treats every day, and helped with any problems you might be having. Internet is good when the is not a big 5th wheel camper blocking the router. We had a nice conversation about him seeing more overlanders due to the app, and he is very pleased with this. Asked what he could do to be better for our type, and our only criticism was to add toilet seats. Later that night he added toilet seats. Too cute. we stayed 9 nights in this white sand camping paradise.

Report Check-In

Just an absolutely gorgeous beachfront spot. Thomas, the owner, is a gem. We only stayed one night but he charged us $100MXN per adult and $50 for our teenager, no cost for our two smaller kids. That's the cheapest we've found in Quintana Roo, and includes good wifi and electric. Thomas was taking other campers to fish and hunt lobster, they made coconut oil and I believe piña coladas from coconuts they shucked right on the beach. I wish we could have stayed longer or discovered this place sooner. My favorite in Q.R.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for a week. It's really paradise.

Report Check-In

Place seems to be closed or at least no one was around when we drove by. Place is secluded, might be nice for those who love that. However we opted for a place in Mahahual.

Report Check-In

A beautiful and peaceful place just 10 minutes from Mahual with very nice and helpful owners. They also speak english and german. We wanted to do some camping but we ended up renting a cabana because it was really cheap. Wifi, power, bathrooms, beach - perfect.

Report Check-In

A wonderful and relaxed place under shady coconut palms. The spot is ideal for cars not bigger than Lancruiser/Landrover. Very friendly and attentive host. Well-kept and perfect clean bathrooms. Solid WiFi, power 24h.

Report Check-In

Nice camping spot but quite expensive at $100 pesos per person plus $50 pesos per child. We did have access to electricity but the wifi was almost non existence. Very friendly hostess and the best bathroom/showers in Mexico so far! Beach was racked but lots of plastic bags in the water. Not ideal for swimming.

Report Check-In

We stayed 5 days (2 persons) with our tent. That was really amazing! We were almost alones, the place is beautiful, the host clean the beach everyday and improve its land everyday, for example the shower/toilets were brand new and he was setting up light and electricity access. We could use the kitchen and our host was soooo nice with us, he even brought us the coffee in the morning! We made us a really cheap price, less than 100 pesos per night, which is really affordable for the region. He got 2 dogs, really kind (they only bark once at you, and you are accepted as a guest =) Free all-you-can-eat coconuts and he let us take dozens of fish with his fishnet...best experience of camping host in Mexico for 4 month.

Report Check-In

Nice camping area with lots of shade. big rids may not fit due to the palm trees. Very friendly owner. She got a long power cord for us, but the energy (solar) is only availble during day light. Cold showers and poor wifi (close to the kitchen). Paid 300 MX per night.

Report Check-In

A very nice and the most expensive campground we've been to. Very friendly owner, good internet, unfortunately the price is outrageous at 200 pesos...per person! I think we were basically fooled by the owner who said 200 / night /rig then after few days she claimed that we didn't paid her properly, it's 200/ person. We ended up paying 500/ night and left right away! Too bad as the area is one of the best in the Mayan Riviera.
