This is a BLM site with a $3 per night fee. Includes pit toilets, picnic tables, trash cans and two hot spring outdoor HOT TUBS!! Spaces are dispersed in the desert sand and privacy is easy to find. Hot tubs fill from solar pump so only hot/flowing during the day. The tubs are full after sunset but cool way down. Great location, great price.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
if you're i to being lulled to sleep by generators and ATVs, and woken up the same way, this is the place for you!
Report Check-InPayed 3€Fee and enjoyed the hot tubes. Enough space for dispersed camping
Report Check-InWe went the week after Thanksgiving and some rain was expected so it was not busy. Dispersed camping is close enough to the hot tubs to walk. They are a bit beat up but clean. Near the pay box there is a little pond that the hot tubs feed as they drain.
Report Check-InTubs were empty. But we did roll in on a snowy day. So maybe the solar pumps couldn’t work.
Most sites we taken. Drove out into the dines for privacy. We had zero issues in the dunes with our 4x4 Sprinter.
This is a great spot, there’s a lot of loose soft and deep sand so be careful where you drive at night. BLM does check the fees are paid every day but you don’t have to be in any marked campsite just don’t camp in the hot springs parking lot. We found a little dog way out a little more than halfway to the campsite from I10, if anyone is looking for him we are taking him to the HS in Deming because he won’t survive out here with the coyotes and below freezing temps.
Report Check-InReally wonderful spot, but don't come during Thanksgiving weekend. It was jam-packed! Right afterwards it was practically empty and we got a whole tub to ourselves more often than not. The price is still $3/night. Pit toilets available in several spots, garbage cans throughout, trash trailer for larger trash bags over by the hot tubs. A rattlesnake and a bobcat were spotted by other campers during my stay, and I saw many different kinds of wildlife tracks in the sand every day. Beautiful spot.
Report Check-InBLM land $3.00 a night includes hot tubs which are emptied every night. Sandy but we managed with our 27ft bus.lots of atv but ok for a night or two.Outhouses available
Report Check-InTubs automatically drain every evening starting about ~30 minutes before sunset, and start filling around sunrise. Take a plastic bag and put over bottom drain with a few rocks to extend soak time in the evening 🤙
Report Check-InThe hot tubs are open again. I spent four nights there and finally the OHV vehicles drove me mad so I left. there's so much land out there that they can drive around on but yet they consistently do donuts and laughs in the camping area. the hot springs are warm they feel pretty quickly, they're fed via pump, they used to be artesian but due to someone mucking around that ended up breaking. they're definitely worth a trip if you're on I-10 and you're headed towards Tucson or Phoenix. I think the BLM office in safford needs to go down there and split the OHV area from the hot spring area to make it more sane and safe for people who want to use either or.
Report Check-InWe had the entire place to ourselves! Tons of campsites plus two hot spring tubs! A Ranger stopped and put up “open” signs and took down the “closed/stop” signs. We spent two days relaxing in the tubs. Highly recommend. Windy at night and keep a close eye on your dog when letting them out at night (coyote poop near our travel trailer in the morning).
Report Check-InNice place to camp if you have the right vehicle. The partially paved road out there has holes down to the bedrock so be careful. Dunes camping area has some pretty flat spots but many others require clearance (but not 4x4 if you are careful). Hot tubs were closed due to Covid and there were a lot of people and some cared about cleaning up after themselves and some didn’t. During the day, it was noisy with all of the people. Will go back and camp during off season. Make sure to bring all of the water you need, there is no water available.
Report Check-InLarge campsites. Nicely kept BLM land. Hot springs are closed d/t coronovirus. Great spot for ATV’s to ride so looks like it could be busy some times of the year.
Report Check-Inif you're on State Route 70 and take the exit to Hot Wells the road will be great with all the potholes on the last 4-5 miles, once you get there slow down and watch out.
Report Check-InPrimitive BLM Campground ($3) with ca 15 sites, pit toilets, picnic tables and lots of space. Few people ride their ATV through the dunes but we were here to soak in the two nicely developed hot tubs that are filled with 106°F water by a solar powered well. At our visit there were 7 more campers and it was quiet. The road from Bowie is partly paved with some potholes and no problem for every kind of vehicle.
Report Check-InDrove in from Bowie, the sand/gravel road was recently graded so was nice and smooth, the paved section however is full of potholes comparable to Mexican roads. Nice secluded camping areas and the hot tubs are a nice bonus. Very windy when we were there so lots of sand blowing around. We drove north when we left and the potholes were just as bad. They say the 45mph speed limit is radar enforced but it would be hard with an RV to go that fast. Allow lots of time to get there.
Report Check-InCame here in the middle of the week and it was PACKED down by the hot springs. I ended up heading further up and camped in the dunes where I was alone. Not a bad spot, but can get crowded and tubs drain after the sun goes down.
Report Check-InIt’s a 30 minute drive on a dirt road at first and then a paved road with lots of pot holes in some areas, so be careful especially if you arrive at night.
Make sure to pay your $3 fee for each day at the entrance before proceeding to find a spot to camp. Their are many places and some have picnic tables, fire pits and garbage bins. We found a nice spot near the hot springs (which are nice and hot) and had none of these but it was fine.
Very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed our stay of three days. Cell reception was ok (Verizon) and non-existant (Metro PCS) when on location, but once you get back on the road works fine.
Great place for anyone with 4x4 for some off road fun. Lon the camp host was very nice and helpful.
Report Check-InGreat campground if you are there in weekdays. In the weekend there are lots of noisy ATV’s.
3 dollar fee per vehicle. We had sometimes a little bit of AT&T cell reception.
Great!! It's also a good place for birdwatching (Hawks, Owls, Gambel's quail) and a few mamals as Javelina and fox.
Report Check-InThis place is in wrong location - it is located at 32.52344, -109.42589
Report Check-InSand, sand and sand. Unmarked adequate space for everyone. Don't park in the road. A little rough when windy. Could be annoying on a busy weekend, but midweek was peaceful. And hot tubs during daylight hours (solar powered tub pumps) and pit toilets and trash cans. Do follow the rules, as the ranger stops by occasionally. This is a cheap place to boondock and enjoy a soak too! It is not too far to Safford for groceries, propane, etc.
Report Check-InLots of ATVs around, but we found a secluded spot to set up. Pit toilet, no running water, hot pools (bathing suit required).
Report Check-InUnless you like the sounds of hundreds of ATVs all day and dozens of generators all night, don't go here for New Year's. It is the busiest time of the year there, according to the Rangers.
Most of the rest of the year it is an awesome place. The hot tubs are great!
