They really do not offer camping anymore!

Great hotel and location. At the entrance we asked Philip (the manager) if we could drink a beer by the pool - we received a very friendly welcome from him. We inquired about the price for a full day tour (fast boat with radio for max 5 people is 1'600 Reais). He suggested to ask 2 other traveller (they did already a morning tour with them) to join us again the next day and split costs. As we booked the day-tour the manager offered us the possibility to camp (for free) and to use the ameneties of the hotel (pool, toilets and outside shower at the pool, for power they allow us to charge our batteries for cameras in the game room and you can fill your drinking bottle with ice cool drinking water) The tour next day was great, starting punctually at six (they serve a good breakfast in the Restaurant from 05.00am for 40 Reais). We had Tinhu - a very experienced guide which was born in this region. In the morning we spotted 5 jaguars - an old male, 2 male (brothers) who even crossed the river in front of our boat and a mother with her young. We went back at 12 for lunch (good buffet for 60 Reais - they even offer sweets and fuits to take with you) At 2pm we left again and spotted another two female jaguars. One we could watch for 2 hours at a very close distance - Just incredible!! All the staff at the hotel is very professional, friendly and helpful. Defenitely worth every penny - we are very happy we did the tour with them.

Changing into clean clothes and brushing my hair and polishing my boots made no difference and the polite but unapologetic receptionist who interviewed me across the firmly locked main gate said there was positively no camping without a firm booking for at least one of their tours.
We were directed to the proper campground across the street and down another 700 metres to the east - which as the updated description shows is a more than reasonable place to stay

Beautifull hotel/campspot, definately a nicer place than the other 2 options (and the only one with swimmingpool which you need for sure!) and at the end it's cheaper (when you stay at least 1 night) because camping is for free (as long as you want) if you book a boattrip.
We payed 523R for a morning trip (5.30am - 12 am, slow boat) (the campground next door is 450R for a boattrip, but for camping they asked 40 pppn and doesn't look nice at all. Jaguar camp asked 100R for 2 persons + vehicle and 1000R for the boattrip!).
We had bad luck, all the other boats spotted a jaguar, our boat was just a minute too late (that's the bad thing about the slow boat). Took a 2nd trip, couldn't negotiate about the price, but did get a free breakfast (normally 39R p.p., it's very good and it's allowed to take a doggy bag with you and we saw other people taking a lot, so we did too!). This time we saw a jaguar for 5 hours from 20 meters distance!
It's allowed to go with other hotelguests when you are invited by them (we found out the last day when somebody invited us and the owner approved). So when there are no other overlanders to share a boat with, maybe you can ask other guests to "invite" you and pay them secretly some money ☺

Report Check-In

We couldn't camp in the hotel with our car; the entrance is closed by a grid and the guardian told us that there is no way to accept campers. Jaguar business and tours operators are more profitable than individual globe trotters...

Some more Infos: half day tour in 115 hp was 800. Full day 1400. The morning session is from 6am till 12. The afternoon session is from 2pm till sundown which is approx around 5-5.30pm. So I would recommend to book two morning sessions instead of a full day. As they want to make money, they don't mix hotel guests with overlanders. We booked a half day tour and the next day we were invited by a nice Swiss couple to join their boat as they were just two. What I am trying to say is: share with other overlanders. There are 6 seats plus driver on the boat. But one is probably just for watching while not driving. But it works for 5 for sure. If there is nobody to share just book one trip and try to share the next day with others if you want more. It's very nice. In our two morning sessions we saw 2+3. Majestic animals. Have fun. Camping: it's a cool place. The only shower is outside at the pool next to the restaurant. We used it quite normal though. We even had a hidden bbq next to our truck. Restaurant is quite good.

Wonderful place to camp by the river. Fantastic, huge water-lily pond, lots of birds. The young and dynamic receptionist Roger speaks perfect English and truly looked after us. Thank you! Half-day jaguar tours in a boat with skipper is currently R$1040 in a 40 hp boat,1380 in a 115 hp boat (price is *per boat* with up to 4 passengers; in the off-season you may be lucky and receive a discount on these prices); no charge for camping if you take a boat tour. The faster boat has the advantage that if a jaguar sighting comes in over the radio you are there more quickly. Saw 2 jaguars!

Report Check-In

The boat trip price went up to 1000 Reales. In March we were told that a trip this time of year would make no sense as there is plenty of water and it is very hard to spot animals.

Report Check-In

Lovely site. Free for as long as we wanted as long as we did one boat trip. For half a day (6 hours), it costs 680 Reals but we split this six ways with two other couples. WiFi is ok and the swimming pool is great. Food in the restaurants was very good but cost 49 Reals for lunch or dinner. Nelson at reception was very helpful.

Very good Place to camp and very friendly. We booked the full day Jaguar Tour and saw 5 Jaguars and a lot more. If you are a group of overlanders you could share the price for the boat.

Perfect place to stay with our Landrover. Friendly staff. Very clean facilities with nice pool. The wholeday Jaguar Tour was great to observe these beautiful animals in there natural habitat. Great experience here!!!

Able to camp in the grounds of the hotel. They let us use the swimming pool and we had access to internet. Lovely spot with wonderful birds in the grounds. There was no charge but you are encouraged to book one of their river tours looking for Jaguars which we did,
