The owners at al Bosque Hostel called a local propane gas man who arrived on his motor scooter and took our 20lb US propane tank for a refill for 30,000p. Brought it back within 2 hours.

avoid this place. first of all they charges us 120k for a 20lbs American style removable tank. that price is outrageous. I didn't ask upfront so it's my mistake. Secondly, they refill butane, not propane. I don't even think it's 50/50. The pressure is low, the burn temperature is low. our US system barely works on this mixture. no hot water and it barely has enough pressure to power one burner. Third, they overfilled our tank beyond the usual 80% line. so I had to let a bunch of gas out just to be able to handle it's expansion in warmer climates. Overall, just terrible!!!
Report Check-Inwe were staying at Al Bosque and David reached out to these guys to fill our fixed American tank. this guy showed up at camp and filled it for us. it was 100k for 30 liters delivered to Al Bosque camping area. much more expensive then other places, but we went to several places and they refused to fill it at all. soooo we payed the premium, but at least they agreed to do it.

half of this. Not the first time in Columbia we had to get along with this kind of business behavior ...
From El Bosque, you can get your portable tank/bottle with ACME threading filled pretty easily and quickly (your hand over your tank to a guy on a motorbike who then takes it to be filled, then returns it). CAUTION: our tank was overfilled such that the safety valve was popping open. We had to bleed off about .5 kg before safely reconnecting the tank to our gas lines. We recommend that you specify how exactly how much gas you want to have filled before handing over your tank/bottle.
