best place in town: "cheap well and fast" quote by a canadian expat living in la ceiba / roatan. we ran into that guy there. he had his car checked there. our alternator was gone just before leaving to roatan, so i asked around for a good place in town. it is qute easy to miss i hope gps was right but it seemed like it, you will see cars with open hoods in the street you found it. a white board above the shack names it. it has a green spot across the street and to its one side. you can park on the street, where there is plenty of space for bigger rigs too.
there were plenty of taxis pulling in too.

my spanish is not the best and the guy running the place was speeking fast honduran spanish but we were able to cope. je repeated multiple times, usually just saying the 1st word slowly but he was patient. he looked over every car quickly diagnosed and then one of his assistants would do the job, but he looked over everyones shoulder, had them redo stuff if he thought it needed to.
they had pleanty of alternator pieces lying around and did all sorts of messy looking cable work and aperently they do all car works. trannys and motorblocks we lying around, too. he did not have my alternator but he drove around town and ordered it for the afternoon. just the interior piece, not the whole case and they put it back together. so it cost me rougly 20us$ work and 30us$ for the piece (i payed in Lempira) (i have an american f250, cheapest alternator i found online to ship within the us was 100us$)

good work, nice guys, cheap! to conclude this long text, sorry.

i did not have my cell to take pictures, but they had a chevrolet truck from the 2000s opened dash board. cables everywhere it lokked like a pess but they were not tired to rewire and repair the fault, i was impressed, never seen anyone so clearminded an determined about so many cables to check and rewire. (his main assistent did that)

Latest Check-Ins

Sam here - the coordinates for these place are clearly wrong -- in the Indian Ocean and not in Honduras! I tried sticking it in the western hemisphere at longitude -86.47723 and it is in honduras but still miles from la ceiba. A look at the satellite view revealed that it's just a field. I've e-mailed the user to ask them about this so hopefully we have updated coordinates soon!
