Description

Since camping on the ruins parking is not allowed they directed us to this spot. Pass ruin entrance gate. Before the resort turn left into narrow and rough track down to lake. There is a nice and level parking with room for a few small rigs. This is public land therefore freely accessable.

Nice spot. Good chat with locals. But... At 7.30pm from the lodge the started trips on the laguna with an airboat. Unbearable noise. At 9pm they stopped the 'night tours'.

Nice place to camp with freshwater lake loaded with crocs not many mosquitoes and the ruins sight is pretty awesome. Much more value for money than most of the ones in Mexico.

The access is really very steep and we were afraid of having difficulty going up with our 7m motorhome. So we did not attempt to descend. We slept on the street right next to the Lamanai site entrance gate.

Good place for max. 2 vans. Nothing for big rigs.

We spent a night on this spot, calm and very beautiful. We spent the evening with fishermen met on the spot, a very nice meeting. The path is passable, at least in the dry season, and we have been through a lot with our 20-foot caravan and another motorhome. If you are lucky you can see manatees in the morning in the laguna

This is a good place to sleep with a small camping car near the river but there place only for 1 or 2 vehicule.

Great spot. Could be tricky getting back out if it’s raining...so be careful. 2wd is fine and really don’t need high clearance. We talked with some locals that were enjoying the afternoon here, and they said no problem staying here.

Really only space for two small rigs, could probably fit three if at least one backed down...

GPS may take you through the town of Shipyard....go through San Filipe instead...much quicker.

Good spot, was ok for our 25ft RV, nice view of the river, nice breeze.
You could get wifi from the Outpost Lodge.

Loved this spot! Friendly locals - clear water - and we went kayaking and swimming with manatees that come to this region. Across the lake to the left is a river that feeds into the lake or runs out of the lake maybe? We kayaked over and there were manatees that entered the lake - you could we their noses and bodies popping out of the water. There are crocodiles that live in this lake and locals said dusk/dawn are when they usually surface.

Nice spot on the river. Camped in a tent and driving a motorbike: no problem. A bit noisy from the lodge activities, but quiet during the night.

Great spot at the riverside. Calm, only mosquitos with sunset together with the howler monkeys. Local people passed friendly.

Spot on the river with a nice breeze. Locals use it also as boat ramp. We had some locals arriving with boats and canoes in the evening and late in the morning. All were really friendly. We had a calm and relaxing night. No amenities.
