Description

Natural canyon and river you can swim in. There are some flat surfaces (grass and pavement) at the top of the canyon to park on. We stayed overnight and no one was out here. The next morning we jumped off the canyon into the water and swam for hours until others arrived. FREE!

at the end of the road is a large and flat parking space, very nice, full of trees. The canion is beautiful and the water is great, but always with tourists there, we came on a Wednesday 3pm and it was full, next day people start to come around 9am , but still worth it

Report Check-In

we were camping on the end of the lot - mid day sun, nice breeze from mountain > real gem, totally peaceful- couple of locals during the day
police drove by said it is (all the time) safe and quiet (idk about the prev posts)
no sirens no snakes no trouble

Arrived at 1 pm on a Sunday and paid 3$ for our truck camper. A normal car is 2$. But apparently you only pay on Sundays. It was a little crowded but everyone left at around 5 pm. Very quiet at night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful little canyon. We slept the night there too, super quiet and nobody bothered us. At midnight the police drove by but did not knock at our door. Be careful during the rainy season though, we were there taking a bath and the siren went off. Within 30 minutes or so the river became huge..so much power.

pasando de vuelta por aquí después de 4 años y todo sigue igual y bonito!
aguas cristalinas y fresca. solo cuando llueve mucho se pone marrón pero en uno o dos días vuelve al color normal.

Nice and free canyon. We arrived at 4pm on a Sunday and didn’t had to pay anything. Spend the night there for free too.
Little 4G with +Mobil

Spent a lovely quiet night here. Some locals come during the day but from 6pm we were on our own.

Report Check-In

This is obviously luck! We thought we’d try to stay here and move down to one of the other free spots if the police kicked us out. They did turn up and warned us it was dangerous because apparently there’s lots of snakes. They were very friendly and welcoming, said to make sure we lock our doors and they would be patrolling. Had a lovely night, cool and incredibly quiet. No cars at all.

Report Check-In

According to the police, this place isn't safe at night! We had to leave.

Great refreshing place ! Quite busy this time of the year and in the middle of the week, but we’re close to holidays so that might be the reason... still highly recommended and very calm at night

Nice spot to swimming, lot of space to park and spend the day in the river. We were there all the morning and it was very nice, cold and clean turquese water. Only few locals swimming.

Report Check-In

We tried to sleep here but at 7pm the police came and told us we can’t stay here (w/o clear reasons) but we could stay 200m down the road.

Report Check-In

I asked locals about camping here but they told me it could be unsafe for solo travelers.
I trivel by bicycle so after all I went to the central park and asking the watchman he allowed me to camp there.

No signs. No fees. Just a great swimming spot. Well worth it to cool off. Plenty of places to park, pitch a tent, hang a hammock. A few locals swimming. Beware the siren- when you hear it, move out of the channel up to the parking area.

Beautiful place to stay. Do "the jump" Is great! but BEWARE! when the siren sounds, it means up in the mountain the river is growing so get out. It gives you like and hour, but it transforms into a dangerous and fast river. We left when we Saw that, it didnt seemed safe anymore. we went to the firestation, they let us Park un the SIDE and told us about the siren and how dangerous can ve staying when it rains. we slept There and Came back in the morning, the river was calm and thin again.
Hot wheather day and night.

Quit place to spend the night. Police drove by in the evening. In the morning at 6.30am , 2 big tourist busses arrived (weekday). Free.

Report Check-In

We preferred this spot since we were only doing one night. Nice flat concrete. The other spot was very buggy and could get muddy during the big rains we have been experiencing. No one not even the cops came by the whole night, at least not to our knowledge. Had the place to ourselves all morning. I recommend every one on the way to or from Bocas stop here. Really lovely free spot to relax, and freshen up. We had 4G Claro work well here. Does say no dogs, so we just broke the rules in the morning while no one was around.

Report Check-In

The Place seems to be no Safe anymore. Police came in the Night and warned us! We should stay overnight in the village!

Report Check-In

Nice place thou the parking lot is pretty exposed (off the road in a outside a quite hamlet). If you have a motorbike or 4x4 you can just drive off the road a little ways up & camp in many spots.
You can jump off the cliffs into the canyon (10ft drop) in the rainy season & not hit bottom.
Nice place:)))

Wonderful campsite! We were here in a Tuesday night, and it was extremely quiet. After dark we were the only ones there, and swimming in the canyon in the evening and then late the next morning with very few other people around was all kinds of magical.
We were visited by police around 8pm, but they assured us that we were fine to camp, they just wanted to make sure we were ok.
There was also a air-raid-like siren from the direction of the town that went off a few times at night, but didn't seem to mean anything at all.

Free! Really quiet at night. Canyon is nice. Get's really busy. On Sunday morning a guy from the city came by to collect a 3 USD parking fee. Busy on the weekends with locals until about 5pm.

Very nice and super quiet. Police checked twice the night.

Super quiet and dark during night. Only couple horses checked on us. Perfect sleeping after all this Caribbean sweetness.

The mini canyon is amazing. So much fun to play around.

We didn't sleep here but the place is cool and a nice place to swim. On sunday there are a lot of people and noisy. The water is clean.

We stayed the afternoon at the river. Really nice for a swimm. We wanted to stay overnight but a local family came over and we were told that the place is not safe and to remote. Better staying in town overnight....

Nice spot for a cool dip ! Just a few families swimming but I bet it can get busy. Cool mini-canyon to swim through. Big flat concrete pad to camp on, and grass along the road if you're tenting. A must to break up the drive, or to camp. Free.

Report Check-In

We were there for one night and for free. Talked to a friendly local and he warned us about the snakes in the area. We didn't see any!

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet at night! Beautiful swim!!! Some people in the afternoon and nobody in the morning. They are used to have campers here but we were warned not to leave anything unattended. Free! Nobody asked for money and we even met the mayor and he didn't ask for us to pay either. Met some other travelers who camped near us too.

Report Check-In

We were here over carnival and were charged $5 because of the camper. Very popular place during holidays!

Report Check-In

Our gps took us the wrong way at the end, but just follow the signs after you turn off the PanAm and you will easily find it. There was someone charging a small entrance fee ($2 per car) , but I think this was probably due to the holiday. It was also busy due to the holiday, but everyone left by sunset. We walked further up the stream and found some large, deep pools to swim and bathe in. A wonderful place. Would be perfect when not busy.

Report Check-In

Quiet lot at the end of newly paved road. Watch for low electrical wire at the beginning of the concrete parking area. Free with no amenities. Water was too low to swim but still a pretty spot.
