Family campsite where Maria Fernanda (perfect English) and Arturo (Middle English) live, located on the shores of the North Shore of Lake Colbún, the largest artificial reservoir in Chile, near the border with Argentina (Malargüe), in the heart of the Maule Region. You can enjoy the tranquility and rural tourism surrounded by the beauty of the Andes, in one of the 14 sites delimited and inserted under a forest of Eucalyptus, fully equipped. Crystal clear waters come from the melting of the mountain range, free of contaminants.
Animals are part of the experience. Dogs (Hulk, Maia and Brutus ), Hens (enough with rich eggs to offer) and many chickens.
* If you arrive at the enclosure and the gate is closed, just open it and worry about leaving it closed, it is for the animals.
* Wifi available only for foreign tourists.
* Open all year.
* The level of the lake changes at different times of the year.
Access from Talca, by Route CH-115 towards San Clemente, until km 48 where the sector El Colorado is located.
At 100 meters past the Carabineros checkpoint and at the height of the gas pump on the right, there is the road in the direction of the Lake Colbún dam.
By the same route it is necessary to cover 4 km, where a distinctive sign of the Camping can be seen on the left side of the road.
From there and once you have crossed the gate, at 500 meters you will find the entrance to Marina Colbún.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Gate was locked , after calling the owner (who wasn’t there herself) it took 15 minutes to get someone to open it. They came from the house 100m further.
Owner speaks English and is very commercial “do you have cash? You have to give it to the guy, the guy doesn’t speak English so you’ll have to speak Spanish”. It all sounded very cold.
Pool and play facilities are run down. I don’t know about the other facilities as we didn’t use them.
38000 pesos (2 persons) is way to expensive for an average place. ‘The guy’ asked for dollars, we paided in pesos.
The owners dogs barking at the house during the night.
The setting at the lake is beautiful.
For this price we do NOT recommend this place.
We only stayed because it was late and raining.
Report Check-Incan't recommend this place more , loads of facilities and open all year round, owners are friendly and helpful gem 💎 of a site
Report Check-Inreally can't recommend this site more , stunning and loads of facilities including a pool and hot tub amongst other normal stuff
Report Check-Inoff the beaten track but a gem 💎 of a site , owner is so friendly and helpful and loads of facilities including a pool and hot tub, can't recommend it more
Report Check-InVery nice camping peaceful and relaxing 😎 a bit expensive but worth it ! Swimming in the lake or swimming pool during summer bathrooms are cleaned space for cooking shadow for relaxing but you have to be prepared to be awaked by multiple roosters !
Very nice landscape very good wifi and 5G Entel. Fit big rigs (6x6 Man)
Warm welcoming and 10% discount for ioverlanders
Highly recommended
I paid 18,000 CHP/22 USD per night as a single with my camper. For this I got a quiet place, electricity, WiFi, an open air kitchen, a pool and bathrooms. These were run down and in the 6⃣ days I was there, neither the bathrooms nor the kitchen nor the pool were cleaned.
For three washing machine loads I paid 24,000 CHP. Despite these very high prices, the lady didn't give me a single dollar discount.
What a magical place definately worth a visit , all the previous information is correct but swimming in the lake evening and morning was a highlight and we loved cooking on the grill of which there is a selection you can move to your camp area. Maria and Arturo are gorgeous , all my washing was done and returned before we woke up , 10 out of 10 from us . Good wifi and definately treat yourselves to the fresh eggs . Maria prefers to be paid in US dollars if you have them.

Maria prefers cash and USD.
muchas gracias Marina
It is a really nice and quite place and a nice campsite. the view at the lake is nice. Marina gave us a warm welcome and she is a helpful host. You can buy fresh eggs and rasberries from her place. As well as nice self made blankets and carpets.
would recommend it.
need to pay cash
Arrived at this fabulous property after 24 hours of travel. Maria was very welcoming, as were her dogs (especially Hulk, who accompanied us throughout our stay!) Maria invited me into her home and provided us with the most beautiful and delicious fresh eggs. Hot showers were within feet of our camper, under eucalyptus trees. The property was lovely to stroll along during the evening. Arturo stopped by our camper in the morning and introduced himself. We will definitely return!
Report Check-InAs described by others. Nice and spots by a pretty reservoir and helpful hosts. The outdoor kitchen with fridges was much appreciated and bathrooms were clean. Loved the campground dogs, however they did bark a fair amount at night to protect us campers, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs.
Report Check-InLike feeling home. If you want to have holiday from your holidays you need to stay here. Great spirit. Wonderful animals. Great hosts.
Do not make the same mistake like me(buying eggs in a supermarket). Buy eggs here. Never saw chicken who have a more wonderful life like this.
So much space there. We spent there 3 great days. Two of them totally alone(within week).
We are receiving tourists for the COVID-19 and with 20% discount for all March, in April we readjusted the rates for low season. Consult values at www.marinacolbun.cl | call + 569-91900060
Report Check-In... wonderfull lovely place, nice people, nice owners, nice dogs, nice chickens, nice pool, nice lake - compared maybe a little bit expensive but finally worth all that! 😍
Report Check-Inall like in info.
1st person had cold water, when we told them and Arturo came to the rescue with his toolbox fixed quickly.
very friendly and helpfull
Toso bien, una piscina muy agradable, sitos bajo sombra, baños impecables.
Report Check-InAll wonderful, the different spaces have been remodeled.
In addition, new services such as a swimming pool, stainless steel Hot Tub for 8 people with hydromassage and ride bicycles have been added. The bathrooms are newly remodeled, laundry rooms, places, tables and awnings.
Arrived here in desperate need of a shower ...closed. So disappointed. Not open 24/7 all year round as advertised
Report Check-InAs described, very nice and quiet. Bad road to go here.
10K pPN - 10% iOverlander, but in my opinion a bit expensive for what you get.
Quick and good Laundry-Service 1000 pKg.
name change: Camping Marina Colbun
coordinates are updated. directly next to municipal camping. NOT in the next bay!
owner still fluent in English and super nice.
iOverlander discount never existed. the 10% apply only in off season, but than for everyone....
Report Check-InVery tranquil spot, right by the lake. Great if you want a day or two relaxing. Good facilities, shower block is a little run down but hot water with good pressure. Host is friendly and helpful. Off season price is now 7000 pesos pp, per night
Report Check-InSo it turns out those two dogs aren't nice after all. They both attacked ours at the same time.
Had to go to the vet, obvs didn't stay camping.
If you need a nice place to recover or just a place to relax - this is it. A warm welcome of Maria and her husband Artur when you arrive, 14 nice campingsites (some with good shade) with power, light, table and benches with sun shade on each site. Two sites to do your dishes and fridge and freezer to use. And the best: 24/7 very hot!! showers. Maria also does laundry (she has a dryer if it has to be quick) And they git a new pet next to the dogs and chickens - a qute little pic called "julietta" we paid 6'000 p/Pers. Very recommended!!
Report Check-InThis is one of the most beautiful and quiet campgrounds we've been to.
The reported high price of 10'000ppp only applies during high-season (December 15 to end of February). During that time, you also get the 10% off the price if you mention iOverlander.
Off-season (March 1 to December 14), the price is 6000ppp and the 10% iOverlander discount does not apply. The campground is well worth the price in my opinion.
For more detailed and up-to-date information, including information on how to contact the owners if you have further questions, visit their website!
The owners are charming, the dogs Hulk and Thor are funny and very gentle with people and other dogs. Maria (the owner) is fluent in English. Furthermore, half of the campsites are equipped with electricity. There are clean bathrooms and showers available as well. Maria will also do laundry for 1000p per kilogram and you can buy eggs from her.
The campground includes a wide area with a lot of grassland and a big chunk of the lake shore. In summer, when the melt water from the mountains arrives, a lot of that grassland is under water, resulting in an additional small lake. The main lake itself is in walking distance (~250 meters). Shore access can be difficult depending on the water levels, but if you are not too afraid of clay, it's still possible. Furthermore, if you are into stargazing, the night sky is incredible. Talca is far away enough to not cause a light-pollution problem and there are almost no houses around this area. Hills surround the lake and the campground, providing further protection against light pollution. Good viewing conditions.
The campground supports big rigs as well (my vehicle is more than 10 meters long and neither a 4WD nor with high clearance, so this shouldn't be a problem for you) and the access road is no problem either. It's a short gravel road branching off of CH-115, so don't worry about having to drive over rough roads for an extended duration.
Report Check-InAlthough it is a very nice spot, we where dissapointed when arriving the price went way up. It was 10.000 p p p.So for is 2 only a tent a really high price compared to other campings in Chile. Muy caro 😔
Report Check-InIts all said, so just some more information how to find without GPS equipment.
Coming from Talca take the Ruta 115 to Paso Pehuenche for approx. 46 km. At Colorado turn right at the Copec gas station and follow the gravel road for app. 3 kms. Entrance left hand side leads to the Camping Municipal and to Marias place.
Nice campsite.
Lot of shad under eucalyptus trees. Here are all facilities you need: clean hot showers, drinking water, good wifi, electric and lights at each site. And covered washing up area with 2 fridge freezers in the middle of the camping area.
Maria is a charming host who sells eggs and speaks great English.
Mention iOverlander and you'll get 10% off.
What a beautiful place! The campsite is right next to the reservoir (which is safe and very clean to swim in) with views of the mountains. We spent four nights here when we only came for a quick stop. Excellent sites for campervans in the trees, each site had electricity, wooden table with benches, BBQ and light. Really relaxing spot with chickens roaming and two very friendly German Shepherds. Maria, the owner, is so helpful, she can’t do enough for her guests. Laundry service at 1,000chp per kilo and fresh eggs from her chickens are available too. Clean and hot showers, can’t recommend this place enough!
Report Check-InGreat campsite on a gorgeous lake. All facilities you need: hot showers, drinking water, wifi, electric and lights at each site, laundry, covered seating areas, grills and friendly camp perros (who don't bark at night!). Maria is a charming host who sells eggs, jams and juice and speaks great English. Lake is ideal temperature for swimming too. Mention iOverlander and you'll get 10% off the 7k pp fee.

Report Check-InReally nice small campground!
One of the few in Chile that are worthwhile to spend a few days. Maria is super nice, quick laundry service available for 1000 CLP/kg. Sites are powered, good got showers, quiet location at a nice lake!
Fresh eggs from own chickens available too :-)
highly recommended!
All it's already said. A beautiful, quit place with very friendly owners.
Report Check-Ingood campsite with lovely owners, hot showers but ask for them to put the gas boiler on for you. outdoor kitchen space and lighting at some pitches. price was $7000 a night but when I mentioned that I found them on ioverlander I was given a discount so payed $6300 I think. dont leave any sandals out side your tend or the dogs there might have them off you!
Report Check-InMaria teaches English in her community and is glad to help improve your Spanish during a walk in the field, garden, cooking, etc. 3'000/5'000/7'000 CLP for 1/2/3 hours. We paid 25'000 CLP for a delicious 2 people steak dinner with wine, dessert, coffee, whisky, cherry liquor, so prices might vary with the meal you choose.
Report Check-InWe ended up staying here again as the passes north were closed and only stayed one night as this pass was due to close the following evening, but after 5 weeks in Chile this is definitely our favourite site. Just to confirm prices 5000 pp in low season plus 2000 per dog per night. Hi season is from Christmas to end Feb and is 12,000pp, but mention IOverlander and you will get a 10% discount (hi season only)
Report Check-InIt`s an amazing and quiet place! We stayed here for 2 days with our camper (5000CLP per night and person). In the low-season we are the only people on this place. Maria and here husband are very sympathetic owner. Maria offer a delicious chilean wine and make a good mate tea. If you want you can enjoy the sun behind the owners house on the foodbridge to the lake. There are hot showers, fireplaces and grills. The campsite is 365 days open and Maria speaks a good english. If the gate to the campingsite closed, you can open it and drive in.

Really lovely campsite set amongst eucalyptus trees. Each site has a light and power with a table and chairs. Covered dishwashing area with fridge and freezer if you need them. Hot showers and WiFi (didn't use wi-fi so can't comment on speed). Maria is super helpful and very welcoming. She also offers dinner and laundry if you want it and she has time😀 Can't recommend this place enough!
Report Check-InBeautiful quiet spot overlooking a gorgeous lake. Power at each shaded spot. Clean toilets (wither seats) excellent hot showers. A covered washing up area with 2 fridge freezers in the middle of the camping area. And if she is not busy Maria will make a nice home cooked meal with an excellent bottle of local wine. 5000p per person (at low season) and we paid 15000p for a meal for 2 with fruit for desert and wine. There is a very dusty municipal site next door which is closed at this time of year. A welcome relief after all of the awful sites in Argentina.
Report Check-Inits a good campground relativ close to the border and an ideal place for in and outgoing to chile. the place is very big, right above the lake and has a lot of shad under eucalyptus trees. Sanitary is so la,la, there are some power points and near the house is a relativ good wifi. we stayed 4 days and enjoyed the place. p/p p/n 5000 peso. The turn off from the main road is at position s35.63795 w71.26355 oppsite the copec station, and then 3,5 km to the campground. 365 days open. Nice owner, Maria speaks english.
