We camped at Jamaka for a
felt that the reviews are totally over positive. Dusty roads, dusty stands and no view of the mountains from most stands. Yes, there are ablutions for every few stands, but for nearly the same price per night there are more beautiful places just a bit further down the road. Will not be back.

We stayed here for 3 nights.......took a cottage as staying with friends.....but also visited campsite. very friendly and helpful owners, good location......Nice swimming in the river at the campsite and great hikes straight from the camp. Also highly recommend the waterfall hike at Algeria which is only a 5 min drive away. WiFi available at cottage and campsite, laundry 100 rand for a washing machine load.

Big campsite, but lots of privacy on your site. Clean ablutions. Very nice Bar and Restaurant with a good vibe. Lots of natural pools to refresh in the clear river. Lovely German owner. Quite busy this time of the year, so better book if you want to grab a site with shade on the river. We had 17C, couldn't see a better one for 1 roof top tent and 1 ground tent. Wi-Fi at the Restaurant and some at the ablutions. Depending on your site, you even have some there.
Less than 1h drive to the stadsaal caves and other points of interest. Get your tickets at Algeria office on the way there. Combine it with a evening in the astronomical observatory. Very much worth a visit.
Good hiking trails start at the campground.
Don't forget to buy stuff, especially dried mango's, at the shop when checking in. You don't want to walk all that up again or pack your tent together just for a milk ;)
Good price for the season, can't remember the exact number.
You can do even some horse rides with very nice horses. Or play volleyball, or swing over the river, or whatever. Definitely a place to chill and spend a few days.

Really enjoyed my stay. Lots of campsites to choose from- went for semi shade under huge trees, next to the river. The further you drive down, the more forest you get ..

Lots of river pools to bath in!

I was very lucky with the weather, it was stunning! Loved the floating in the river with crystal clear water.

Campsite has a power plug, braai stand, and a tap. There is a solar system in place, so no loadshedding for the campsite. Just the cellphone tower switches off during loadshedding. Otherwise good signal with MTN.
There are plenty of ablutions blocks all around the campsite - been very clean, even it was really busy.

Lovely views of the mountains. Couple of hiking trails available.

Great natural swimming pool. Bar and bush restaurant available. Small shop at the reception when you check in.

They gave me a single rate to camp (90 rand per night) - which is great. Thank you Jamaka. Will see you again in future !

Nice place along the river. Big places with your own braai. Ablutions have been renovated. Price campsite 360 per night. At the Jamaka Café in ter campsite you have a very good internet connection.

We stayed in one of the chalets as the weather was wet and very windy. The chalet was very comfortable and had everything needed, bedding and cuttlery included. Would definately stay here again. Very friendly staff and owners. They also had backup generators when loadshedding.

Huge campsite, nice sites but also some below average. Rough diamant with many great features like the ablutions, river, cafes and zipline, WiFi at reception(soon at the cafes too) but some things need a final touch. Good for all ages but a little noisy at night close to the larger cafe.

Report Check-In

Beautiful valley with a lot of wild rooibos bushes, hikes well marked, grateful camp sites along the river with a lot of shade. Don't forget to buy dried mango slices sind rooibos tea from their shop - delicious!!

Friendly hosts. Many spots to choose from along the river. We stayed at 16D.. Neat clean ablutions with solar/electric geyser.. Piping hot water. Stunning hikes up the mountain slopes and around the farm. Small Cafe that even delivers to your camp for R20. We paid R480 for 2 nights for 2 pax.

120 Allocated camping spots over two shaded campgrounds next to the river

Report Check-In

As described elsewhere. Note that the showers are primarily solar powered and the campsite is on the river in a gorge so not a lot of sun gets to the solar panels especially in winter. There is electrical back up to heat the water but in our case no one had switched it on so showers were not hot. Free wifi at the campsite shop. This site is big but could very well get busy and perhaps noisy in holiday periods. R150 pppn before 15th August.

Report Check-In

80 camp sites which are very close to one another. Avoid going over the weekend if you want privacy but during the quiet times it is lovely! Beautiful stream running through the camp sites for frolicking like a child. Their dogs are so perfect we almost stole them!

Report Check-In

Wonderful campsite that stretches along the river. Several communal ablution blocks, clean, hot showers but bring your own toilet paper. Paid ZAR 240 for two people in a car for one night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful Campsite! direkly at a Rock Pool and a lot of shadow of the trees. Ablutions are ok, but when it will be crowded, there will be not enough of them. Very frendly german people. We paid 100 rand per person a night!

Report Check-In

Beautiful place in the middle of the Cedeberg mountains. Alongside a river where you can take a dip. The campsite is huge, so you can even hike around. Wifi just at the reception is true but there is 3G signal all over! A couple of former geologists beeing farmers now. Very interesting! Delicious dried mango, fresh orange juice and local beers! 100rand pp totally worth to visit and also for taking a few days rest.

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite next to a creek where you can swim. Hot water and coffee shop.
Price is R200 for two people camping.
Very helpful German owner. Only downside, as other mentioned, is that internet is only at the reception, which is in a different location than the campsite itself.

Report Check-In

We were here peak season and the campsite was very busy. We were given site 28 quite far from everything but it was a great site with our own private wallowing section in the river. Ablutions ok, old but clean. R200 pn for 2 people.

Report Check-In

Beautiful quiet camp based under the mountains in the middle of Cederberg!

Report Check-In

Very friendly host, a lot of space on the camping, sheeps walking around in the morning, trees that gives shadow. The reception is pretty far from the campsite (1.5 km?) but you can buy some food there and use internet. Toilets could be cleaner but it’s still ok and the water in the shower is hot. Great place!

Report Check-In

very nice and peaceful relaxing campground with plenty of shade next to a large stream with a swimming hole

Report Check-In

Nice campsites situated along the river. Ablutions are clean and have hot water. Every site has a braai and a tap. Fast Wi-Fi at reception which is quite a way from the campsite. Winter special is 150 ZAR per site but it costs 200 ZAR in the summer. They also have a little shop at reception. Firewood is 20 ZAR and ice is 10 ZAR. Great hikes and beautiful setting by the river. Recommended!

Report Check-In

Very peaceful. No lights at night so stars beautiful. ZAR200 for 2. Lots of sites to choose from. 9a is out of the wind and by babbling stream. Sheep and horses in camp. Nice hikes available. We did the Upper River. A bit hot for the others during our stay.

Report Check-In

It's now 200R per two persons.
Wifi only at reception which is far away.

120 campsides but it feels like camping in nature. all campsides spred along a river over some km. one of the best campsides on our trip!! now in winter the campside is empty and only 150R per side. nice hikes!

Report Check-In

Very nice German run guest farm with huge camping area along the river in the Cederberg area, swimming, hiking trails, volleyball available, many sites so not too crowded, right at the river, free wifi at reception (which is a fair distance from the campsite), homemade orange juice, Rooibos tea and some food stuff for sale, electricity and braai stands at sites, 160R p site for up to 4 people
