Latest Check-Ins

After visiting all 3 "campsites" marked in iOverlander, we chose this one for 3 nights. Contrary to the others it is a real campsite and not visible from the road. It has a lot of places for tent camping and 2-3 vehicles will be able to find a leveled spot on the grass. The toilets and showers are very good for Colombia. Showers were only cold when we went there.

Price is 32.000 COP/p.p. if you sleep in the car and 46.000 COP/p.p. if you build up a tent (second one includes breakfast). There are also sockets to charge your phone.

The service in the restaurant is as bad as mentioned on Google Maps. You can walk up to the trout farm (return from Cocora 12 km trail), it is only 5 mins. There you get a main course of trucha for 24.000 COP.

As all day tourists leave at 5 or 6 pm, you do not get any main course anywhere in the town after 5 pm.

After reading all choices here personally we feel this was the best.
$64.000 (it is a tourist location…)
At the restaurant we had delicious trout from the farm just up the road, delicious.
Big restaurant and large parking area; we were shown where to be in very back of restaurant for more privacy. They also have a lot specifically for tent camping. Clean (except after a big weekend with lots of tourists); they have bathrooms and showers with warm water. The owners are so nice! Juan de Baptist & son Juan Sebastian.
We met Néstor who is a guide and spent Monday doing a big 9mile loop with him learning all the history of area & the Wax Palms. Miguel is the gate manager and can introduce you to Néstor and the owners if you’d like to meet them.

Report Check-In

As described, large camping site behind restaurant parking lot, but the only somewhat level site is assigned to the newly built glamping cabana, so you're always at an angle... toilet/shower is new but not clean and there was no hot water when we visited. The only plus point is that it's very close to the walking trail so you can get there early in the morning and avoid the crowds. Paid 32,000 per person - definitely too expensive in our opinion!

Report Check-In

There’s a very big camping ground behind the restaurant, it’s also very close to the walking trails but before the point where the road starts getting very muddy.
30,000 pp or 40,000 with breakfast.
Great bathrooms, good clean and hot showers.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place. But It’s not possible to find a leveled spot. Modern bathrooms. 60.000 COP 2 people in a truck.

No WiFi anymore, price still same, modern and clean bathrooms, one of the best showers(hot and stream) so far. Good place for hikes.

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet place. Near entrance to the palms path. 30.000 CO$ pppn, $40.000 breakfast included , but they start at 8h30 little bit late if you are planning the longest path. Clean bathrooms, warm shower. Flat and well cutter grass lot for RV.

Report Check-In

Tiene camping, agua caliente, wifi, restaurante, seguridad, Leonardo los atiende con la.mejor actitud.... recomendado, cobran 40.000 pesos por persona en camping e incluye el desayuno

Report Check-In

Nos querian cobrar $40.000 por persona, le pedimos solo poder aparcar y no nos quiso rebajar el precio.

No nos quedamos!

Report Check-In

Restaurant with Camping
Camping was fine, 20000 cop each. parking staff good . great views of the palms. can be busy. Restaurant very expensive, poor quality, long wait and bad attitude..

Report Check-In

If you say you're sleeping in your car, it is $20,000 COP per person. If you say you're camping, they assume that means a tent and the price for that is $23,800 COP per person. So make sure to be specific when you tell them the option you want. This was a nice, quiet spot with stunning views and the most perfect sunset. There is a restaurant on site (pricey) and toilet/shower available all night. It was chilly outside so we didn't even try the shower, the toilets were clean. A 10 minute walk from the trail head to Valle de Cocora. We liked it and recommend.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camp spot on a meadow right next to trailhead. This gives you the opportunity to start your hike prior to all the jeeps arriving (highly recommend). Quiet night with lots of stars.
Toilets ok, cold shower. Paid 20000 pp a night. Considering the prime location we were ok with that.

Report Check-In

They tryed to charge us 23‘000 pp, we didn‘t stayed

Report Check-In

Very very good place, safe parking, amazing views. The price is 20.000 per person, and 30.000 including breakfast. Freezing cold shower, good bathroom.

Report Check-In

We asked for the price and the guy at the entramce told us 20.000 pp, INSANE. We told him that couldn’t be the correct price, that we knew of people who had payed less. He told us that that had always been the price and that noone had ever payed less. We then left and went to the other iOverlander spot right next to this one and payed 13.000 pp. Really disappointed by the guys trying to ripp us off.

Report Check-In

Big parking lot, nice camping area, big rig friendly. 10000 Cop pp.
Great location for hiking the Cocoa valley.

Report Check-In

Don't go to this place! Very expensive! 2 adults an 2 kids (7 and 11 years) 72'000 $for one night!!! And we had dinner for almost 200'00 $. You can stay at de camping before this place. Would be less expensive.
The owner did the price!!! We that first it is for 2 nights.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp with a great view into the valley. Lot's of space. We paid 17k/P.

Report Check-In

17.000 por persona. no hay Nada abierto por la noche. no nos quedamos

Report Check-In

As described, a pleasant spot to camp. Friendly staff, although the restaurant is very pricey and not very good (except their hot spiced passion fruit drink, which is awesome!). Also a very pet friendly place to camp, but just be aware that if you have a dog you are not able to visit the valley at all with the dog. they are not allowed on the walking trails or the road with your dog. Nor are you allowed to drive the road between here and the national park, so for us it was kind of a pointless visit, although we could see some of the valley and trees from our camp spot...

All what is said before: Great place, super friendly staff. Worth the money! Paid 12k per night and person (... they asked for 14k but could talk them down.)

Report Check-In

Beautiful location. Very crowded with day guests. We payed 17.000 Pesos per person.

Report Check-In

Enjoyed staying here. Quiet, cool, excellent surroundings and fantastic nearby hike. Paid COP 13000 pp. WiFi was slow, worked best in restaurant. Overall probably better value than Los Palmas next door where we stayed night before (10k pp with no net and worse banos...and bad pan flute music cranking from restaurant at 7am).

Report Check-In

Really large place. A bit posh and impersonal but beautiful location. We paid 12000/pP once we asked for 'parking and sleeping in the vehicle' instead of asking for 'camping' (which they said was 15000pP and not possible that night.) There may be cheaper, better options around here. The trout combo at their restaurant was good, but overall the prices were a bit high. The best things are fast wifi and the fact that there's great hiking right up the road. We did a beautiful loop along the river and back through the hills. Highly recommend the hike.

Report Check-In

Great open area for camping, not perfectly level but not too bad. Incredible view. Awesome smoked trout in the restaurant. Very friendly people. Excellent for overlanders.

Report Check-In

A restaurant at the heart but so much more. A camping area, tourist booking area, coffee shop and farm. Right next to the hiking trails and very secure. People here are extremely nice. 12k pesos per person per night. Huge grassy area for tent campers. Super good coffee in on site coffee shop! Very cold showers. Very busy on weekend but fun.

Report Check-In

Campground behind restaurant. Large grassy field, toilets and cold showers. 12 COP pP.
