Description

On the second floor. Decent food, mostly catered to tourists, veg options. Good big apple pie, coffee is unfortunately instant. Has wifi, average speed. Slow service like anywhere in Bolivia.

Downstairs on the first floor below the cafe, is the Koala tour agency, bought their mine tour for 120 bolos, cheaper than the Big Deal mine tours (150) and had a great time in the mines exploring and visiting real miners as they work their craft, would definitely recommend.

The free walking tour with with Koala Tours was brilliant. Great overview of the city and springboard for other tours.

Great experience! We did a tour with Wilson today. He has a good sense of humour and speaks very good English. When he is not booked for a tour, he works in the mine himself. Therefore he could tell us a lot. Very interesting! We were a small group of 4 people, he always took good care of everyone and considered each individual. First we went to the miners' market, then to one of the mines we had chosen and finally we could see how the material is processed. We paid 100 BOB per person and the tour lasted 4 1/2 hours (instead of 3). Would book here again.

They duly ignored what i asked for before booking anything that I don’t want the tour where you have to crawl through a very narrow tunnel. So just make sure you let them know what you want. The tour can be a very claustrophobic experience.
Don’t expect any safety standards.
Having said that, the tour is very informative and it gives you a great perspective for when you go home and want to complain about your job.

We booked the extreme tour to Caracoles Mine and paid 130 bolivianos per person. It included transportation and the equipment you need. The gifts we purchased for the miners were extra money, not included in the tour price, and voluntary. Excellent tour. Francisco, the Spanish guide, was a miner for 17 years, and gave us incredible insight and information. We were inside the mines for over 2 hours. We went on a Saturday so there were fewer miners working, which is what we preferred. Our group got to go pretty deep in the mine (you'll be sore the next day), explode some dynamite, and have a new appreciation for the hard work of these men. Highly recommend having this experience while in Potosí.

Probably the best tour there is in Potosi. 130 Bs/person; considerable part goes to the miners. We were amongst the miners, crawling through narrow chutes and running out of the way when they pushed the ore out of the mine in a hurry. In the end, tired and dirthy - fantastic.

The food is nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. It is slightly overpriced for Bolivian standards (menú del día for lunch or dinner at $45 BOB and food a la carta at $27 BOB for a burger or $25 BOB for veggie meal (lasagna or pie). Internet is descent though and they'll let you hang around to use it. Bathroom is also pretty clean. So ok for a place to spend some time.

We booked our mine tour downstairs at Koala Tours and it was really really great. Profits go back to miners too. Would highly recommend. Paid $100 BOB with some negotiating and with a group. Singles paid 10 to 20 more.

If you love good food, better stay away. We had the lunch menu with:
1. creep filled carrot & mayo
2. instant tomato soup
3. over salted and over cooked vegetarian pie
4. fruit salat with artificial flavoured yoghurt

We have a strict no Wifi passwords policy, and are going through places added and have to manually remove these passwords. Would you be so kind as to not share that info on the app? We, the Team and the owners of these establishments will greatly appreciate it.
