River bank place close to the road to Lago del Desierto. One place for a big rig sheltered for the wind (otherwise more places close to the water).
Between El Pilar en the bridge. Just turn steep right after the bridge.

We spend a Friday night, on Saturday afternoon people from the Park told us we have to leave because Gendarmerie could come and it was not good.. So we are in Confluencia parking they said it's the spot to spend the night for free in El Chalten :(
Report Check-InAs everything outside of town along this road was closed I endend up here, beautiful view of Mt. Fitzroy and / or river as the wind came up strong after sunset I parked between a row of trees just parallel to the street, could probably be seen from street but no one uses this street apparently
Report Check-InVery very nice spot. Hidden but not too much which is no problem as the road is completely empty at night. We didn't have strong wind but think even with strong wind it might have been okay with our rooftoptent. Beautiful view and drinkable (?) water from the river. Can totally recommend to camp here!
Report Check-InVery nice place for camping, especially with a 4x4 because you can get properly away from the street. However, no protection from the wind, rather go to a place a bit further up the road with the protection of trees. With our pop-up roof, we changed spots in the middle of the night due to the strong wind
