Description

FREE in February 2024.

Here you can visit the factory of the biggest producer of Yerba Mate in the world. They offer tours (1h/1.5h) around the campus (Spanish, though we were lucky and got an English tour guide called Virginia).
You get to see the different stages of the product life cycle (nursery, drying, aging, quality control, packing and shipping). There is a free part of the tour and one that costs 50AR$ pp (=3US$). At the end, they give you free promotional samples of a few mate flavors. Be prepared for a short marketing video filled with buzzwords. We got to learn a few interesting facts about the mate plant and production, so it's definitely worth the pitstop along the lengthy RN14, but I wouldn't drive out here hundreds of km just for the tour.

We paid 100 ARS for a half an hour interesting tour around the facilities of the industry and we got to know about the yerba mate production and how their industry works in terms of employees and conditions. The tour is done as a caravan through their FM frequency and we got out to see their green houses, where the plants at their early stages are growing. In the end, we saw a video too and got some samples of their products. They also allowed us to fill up our water tanks from their outdoor tap.
All in all we enjoyed it and we can recommend it!

There was no short free tour for us. Either you pay 100ARS for a 1.5 hour guided tour, or all you can see their shop and a corporate video saying how great they are.
After watching the video, we asked if we could go for a brief visit in the factory since we didn’t have much time, but they said that it was not possible. Quite a waste of time actually.

Very nice stop on our way home to Buenos Aires. The planta impressed us: they offer a gratis tour, you go by your own car and get the information on air through your radio. At the end you get a little gift. Very nice and impressing what this company does for his employees

A very interesting stop. We got a free tour throught the production, quality control, packaging, storage facilities. The lady spoke perfect English, so possible for everyone. It is a very nice place to see and we learned a lot about mate. At the end we even got some packages of mate. We can absolutely recommend the visit. If you want something related to mate (i.e. these containers for hot water etc.) you can buy it there for a very competative price. The also sell mate of course and the prices are real outlet prices, much cheaper than in supermarkets.

After checking in at the gate and the armed security guard you drive through the plantage's park toward the main building where we were welcomed by a friendly English speaking guide.
We only did the shortest possible free visit with Yerba Mate tasting and the free samples. If you have two hours you can do a two hour tour through the plant.
