Beach front parking under potbellied trees. Straight on sand. Quiet and safe. Just past casitas apartments. Walking distance to town. On track to ylang resort. An informal tented campsite precedes this spot if you want to pitch a tent.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Parking area/turnaround right next to the beach. We were the only campers on a Tuesday night. Dark and quiet, but warm at night. Walking distance into town for restaurants or groceries. Make sure to check out the waterfalls, we walked to those too. The road near the tortoise sanctuary looked rough at night, but it was okay in RWD van.
Report Check-InSafe and calm place, in front of the sea! You will probably be alone during the entire night. No facilities.
Report Check-InStayed here 3 nights. Busy during the day but at night you’ll be alone. If you get lucky, the turtle refugee on the beach will release turtles ! If you see Benicio, the man cleaning the parking lot, have a little with him he is super nice!
The beach here is not very nice to swim but if you walk 15min in the left there is a nice waterfall to cool off
Parked at the end of the dirt track and parked overnight in the lot before entering Ylang Ylang Very peaceful and had the place to ourselves overnight. Love the groovy vibe here. Swam in the waves, hiked the sandy bays in the reserve up the shore, released turtle hatchlings on the beach at sunset, and noshed on great food before swaying to the DJ sounds in the village square. You’ll love it here!
Report Check-InFree parking next to the beach. We stayed in front of Casita apartments, a few cars drove past at night as did the police but they didnt stop. Otherwise very quiet. Beautiful beach, sandy but with rocks. Walking distance to town and to other beaches nearby. Beware of falling coconuts!
Report Check-InSpot sympa sur un genre de parking face à la mer. À côté d’un hôtel et d’un refuge pour tortues. Pas de toilettes ni douche mais à proximité du village de Montezuma
Report Check-InLovely quiet spot. Bit further along from “informal camping” (which had a sign saying don’t camp) - nice tidy carpark area right on the beach. Short walk into Montezuma.
Report Check-InNice quiet spot. Room for half a dozen rigs. Also good for tents. Short walk into Montezuma. The house on the right as you face the beach has a rooster which will wake you at dawn. Fills up during the day but quite at night. No faciities, no wifi.
Be careful swimming here. there are rocks you can't see during high tide.
Stayed 3 nights. Pretty busy, no privacy, some garbage but safe. Police came by twice a day but didn't say anything to us. Other campers (tents and vans) stayed there as well. Free :)
Report Check-InPacked with hammocks, tents, and people when we arrived (late afternoon). Trash everywhere along the beach and narrow road. Had a difficult time turning around our 4x4. Decided to find another place to camp - did not feel quiet or safe.
Report Check-InThis is a gorgeous spot for wild camping! It has shade and felt very safe. At the day, many people visit the beach and at sunset, small turtles were searching for their way to the sea. It just next to the turtle project!
Report Check-InGreat place with wonderful view right on the beach: calm, shady with lots of trees, flat. During day there are tourists on the beach, at night it’s empty. We felt very safe here as during day there are other cars parked and it‘s on the way to some hotels, therefore at night there are some lights on the path.
Woke up with beautiful view on an empty beach with waves.
Stayed here for 2 nights with our Suzuki Jimny with rooftop tent.
Top recommendation! (better then „informal campsite as there is more shade)
Great flat and shady place to stay. Tourists are coming here to spend time, we felt really safe to let our van parked alone all day. In front of it, the waves were HUGE when we were there and a lot of big tree trunks were floating in the water. Absolutely impossible to swim there. But the trail to playa grande is a a must to do when it's low tide. This beach is huge, wild and the waves are a little bit smaller than in front of the night spot.
Report Check-InPerfect spot, sun and shade depending of what you need, in front of the ocean! We stayed two nights, very safe. You can refill water outside the main supermarket.
Report Check-InLovely parking spot by the beach. Few meters away from a resort with a security guard. Felt very safe and secluded.
Report Check-InEl lugar es tranquilo, generalmente hay varias carpas acampando. La playa no nos gusto ya que las olas eran tremendas y el fondo lleno de piedra. Imposible bañarse.
The place is quiet, there are usually several tents camping. The beach we did not like since the waves were tremendous and the bottom full of stone. Impossible to bathe.
Report Check-InWe only felt the need to stay one night here. Fairly quiet. Strong current and not the best swimming. Surf possible nearby, big wave, lots of big underwater rocks. T txtg Sandy beach with shade. A decent amount of locals living on the beach, interesting characters, seemed harmless but pretty intoxicated and not necessarily keeping to themselves. Nice sunset and sunrise. Would recommend checking out Playa Roca a few kilometers towards Cabo Blanco if you are looking for more relaxing and solitude at your campsite.
