First we went walking to ask if you could came later with our Hilux Camper to park and sleep inside the vehicle due that you have to board to Robben Island early in the morning (8,30 h.). Park guard asked supervisor by Phone and said Yes, " you can stay inside the car". When we arrived later with our Camper there were other guard and say no. We could not stay at night inside the car. We argued, but supervisor came with 3 others guards and asked us very unfriendly to go. We left.

We were moved on at 4am, parking during the day absolutely fine but no overnight stays allowed.

Report Check-In

Its not a problem to enter with our 9 t Bullnose. We didn't stay over night

Parked here for 2 nights, second night security taped a message on our door. Not allowed to park here, we didn't leave and one hour later another security arrived telling us there is no parking for mobile homes. At the end the manager of the whole security joined us and was not very friendly. He told us to call the police if we not leave immediately... finally he resigned and we slept another night. We left next afternoon, because we found a better place to stay for a week in Capetown!
Recommendation: Ask the Waterfront mall management for parking!

Open parking area suitable for overland vehicles, however not mobile homes / Iveco’s etc (the entrance to the parking area has a sharp left turn that means limited length vehicles can access the parking area. Access to toilets and water only between 09:00 am and 21:00 in the evening.

Update: parked up at 20:00, right next to security person, he was super friendly and was happy that I set up the camper van. 11:30 PM, another security camera to check why I was there. After explaining he said that ‘officially’ the Waterfront does not allow overnighting, But they do allow it. He then left and wasn’t bothered again. Next morning chatted to security personnel and paid my R100.00 for overnight parking. Security guys super friendly to chat to me and ask questions about the overland community. Very safe, and stunning views of the ocean. Can be a bit windy as it’s right on the beach front area.

Really relaxing. Feel safe. We stopped to have lunch. There are a number of other overlanders here too

Report Check-In

Place as described. At 4.30 a.m. a security knocked at our door after seeing lights, when we used our camper toilet. While phoning with another person (his superior?), he told us unfriendly, that it’s forbidden to stay at night in the car and that we had to pay a fine; he would come again 6 a.m. We argued that there’s no prohibition sign. He did not come again. Some hours later we talked with another security who was very friendly; he said that sometimes people stay at night in their camper and that it is not forbidden.

Report Check-In

Sorry to tell: overnight stay is not possible anymore. Sent us away at 2:30 am to park at next police station.

Still 110 ZAR for 24 h parking. Toilet, restaurant and supermarket- all available in the big Victoria Wharf Mall. Only showers missing ;) we camped 3 nights here without problems

Camping on a public parking lot. If you have a campervan or the likes, so you can remain indoors whilst cooking for example, it's great ! I have to cook outside so I didn't. Instead had breakfast at mugs & beans and dinner at sashas, both of which are reasonably priced and very close by. Still 110 rand for 12-24 hours. Entrance is going right on the roundabout before the one leading to the hotel. Bus parking lot is the one before that. No showers of course, nearest toilet is inside Victoria Wharf. Safe and quiet at night.

Report Check-In

We used the bus parking for the night, it was safe and quiet in the back. But be careful when its stormy: we had a big storm, went away at 4 am and saw the next day lots of stones that came with the waves exactly to the place we camped on... And the site was flooded...

Report Check-In

As an alternative, with big vehicule like truck or motorhome, you can stay in the bus parking lot. A bit more noisy in the evening due to bus arriving and leaving, but it's free.
