TRANSIT POLICE IN BLUE UNIFORMS. Not Gendarmerie or Salta Police- organized effort to demand bribes from tourists.
* in october 2022 everything seemed legit - a lot of checkpoints, but all officers seemed legit, with legit police cars and ubiforms. Didn't cause any trouble, just waved through or wanted to see driving license.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.

controle policial bem rigoroso com teste de bafômetro. policial super educado, não tivemos nenhum problema.
Report Check-InNot sure if this is the place, but there were really a lot of checkpoints in this area. Everyone just asked us where we were going and coming from and 2 times they wanted to see our driving license (and were happy with that). Otherwise they all seemed very legit (aka not fake) and everything was fine.
Report Check-InWe passed it around 6:00pm and there was a lot of traffic. We were waved through by the officers after they asked where we had been and where we were going. No issues.
Report Check-InWe stopped by them. The police was trying to fine us because of our car's heavy load? Anyway, he finally found some peru money from our fake wallet which we totally forgot. He took it and let us go.
Report Check-InWe were stopped on a Sunday. Driver asked "blow" towards a handheld machine to check for alcohol!
Report Check-InOfficer was not in a good mood but friendly. may be because he had to work on Sunday.
But no problem only asked where we want to go.
nothing more!!!
Still here. Trying to fine because our light is on auto not with the big headlights. But we didn’t understand Spanish and trying to talk out of it and finally they let us pass.
Report Check-InThey tried to say that we our tow ball was Illegal, after about an hour of being really polite but stupid about what was happening they tried to give a dilemma. We told them we had no way of getting money so we needed to contact the embassy. They let us go after that.
Report Check-InStopped. We think the police woman asked what we were importing. Gave a confused look and she waved us on.
