it's blocked with sand now and it's not allowed anymore to camp there. look the photo.

The only possible campsite in this area. All sites closer to the lagoon are no longer allowed. The beach is also protected for the turtles. Here it is still allowed and tolerated but not really welcome. We were there three nights and were asked to leave the place again but it is explicitly not forbidden.
To watch the flamingos the place is ideal. You can watch them from the place all day long. The sea is warm and the sandy beach invites you to swim. But please be careful. The turtles lay their eggs here. Do not step on the turtle nests.

Really nice and quiet spot, stayed here for a night and nobody bothered us. Tons of stars to see!

Had stopped at another spot by the lagoon, but officials came and told me no camping next to the lagoon is allowed. I asked them where would it be ok and they mentioned a parallel road close to this spot. So I spent a quiet night over there.

Idyllic place between the beach and lagoons. Tons of flamingos. Lots of catfish in the sea for a good dinner. Only problem was the reserve officials came by and told us we couldn't camp there because it's the beginning of turtle hatching season and they were now keeping a lookout for campers. We agreed to leave the next morning. Bear this in mind if you want to try camping here.

We got here a little after sunset and didn’t feel like finding a better spot. It is nice and flat considering the area. The beach is really nice but you can’t see it from your camper (it’s over the hills). The Laguna is nice, you can see it from your camper. We saw about 5 flamingos. No one bothered us, we had it all to ourselves. It was very windy so thankfully we didn’t come across mosquitos.

Report Check-In

As described be aware of the mosquitos! But mor annoying are the sand flies!!If we hadn‘t arrived that late we would have turned around

Report Check-In

lots of mosquitoes and tiny biting flies that could get into the tent. the dog was being eaten alive aswell so we left in the middle of the night. awesome place to visit during the day though with pink flamingos and a beautiful sunset. good spot if you can stay inside your vehicle but not great for RTT. also
the road dose go through to cayo, but it is narrow and for the open water/mud sections I would recommend high clearance.

Lovely, quiet flat spot right between the beach and the salt flats. Saw numerous flamingos and pelicans and other birds. Beach had a fair amount of trash in the wash up but not awful. We were not bothered by anyone, only the many many mosquitoes just after sunset and in the early morning. The wind was quite strong when we arrived which kept them away but quite a few without wind.

Very nice indeed ! We picked a spot just a bit further this one. Good area for biking among the salt lagoons. Only a few flamingoes seen in 3 days that mid march. Beautiful sunrise and sunset on the water. No mosquitos cause windy (which makes the temperature confortable night and day). A guide passing by bewared us about a crocodile living in the lagoon (in which the kids were playing...).

Report Check-In

This place was lovely! Big open space with the beach a few steps away and flamingos on the other side of you. Felt safe and would totally stay here again. We were blessed with some wind so the bugs didn't bother us at all.

Definitely spend some days here. Beautiful, deserted and felt very safe. We have never seen so many stars in all of our travels. What a way to spend valentine’s day, crashing waves surrounded by pink flamingos and and a pink lagoon. Grab your van friends and come here to pass some peaceful beautiful days. Also great for long walks bird watching. There is a lot of wildlife here.

Report Check-In

As reported, a beautiful spot, crashing surf behind us and pink flamingos in the lagoon in front of us. Bring your own firewood and revel in this spot. But beware of the mosquitoes!!

Report Check-In

Nice spot with beautifull view over the lagoon. So many birds around. 1 bar telcel reception.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Open area between the road and the little dunes. It was enough windy to be free of bugs! All other spots we saw there were a lot of mosquitos! We had a quiet night under the stars. We saw a lot of flamingos and other birds all the time.

Report Check-In

Beautiful and scenic big open space for camping in between the beach and saltlagoons with lots of flamingos when we were here (beginning of december). Enough wind to keep the mossis down (beware at dusk & dawn!), but not as strong as directly on the beach, which is only a few steps away. 3G Telcel reception. Big rigs only coming in from Rio Lagartos side!!! Driving direction Cuyo the road is not so scenic anymore after about 2 km from here, it gets bushy and more and more narrow with less campingspots beside.
