Panama
Hiking through desert areas, some nice red and dark spotted sections. We walked around 6 km . Entrance is 5 US pp . Camping 3 US pp, where ever one likes.
Toilets are at the park entrance. Water as well, portable???
2019 NOTE : free camping at the entrance and free entrance but because of reforestation, you can only sleep at the entrance.
2022: Still free camping and you can go to the salt marsh for camping again (or at the entrance if you want toilets)
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We were asked for a donation by the guard and gave 5$. Doesn't look officiel though
Report Check-InSpend the night inside the park and visit the park in the morning very quickly. It’s a nice landscape you wouldn’t believe to be in Panama.
So the guard told us everything was free but ask if we could give him a donation for his family… we have him 5$

Still free entrance and camping, car camping allowed on the salt marsh. Tent campers have a second hike in option close to the ranger station. The ranger was super nice and explained everything. Not many tourists, even on a Sunday! super hot during the day (there is a small shelter on the salt marsh for shade), but cool and quiet at night. Saw some cool birds we have never seen before in Central America.
Report Check-InArrived at 3PM, signed the book and asked if I could camp anywhere in the park. Got a Yes for an answer... and it was great. Free admission and free overnight. No services in the park. It’s a small but nice quiet place. There’s a shade you can park a van in.
Report Check-InWe arrived after 5pm. Nobody was here and washrooms were closed. We slept there and it was really quiet. I think if you sleep here it's free. Because they are reforesting, you can't sleep where you want with your van anymore. The day after, we asked to the rangers if we could walk in the park. We had to sign the registration book but we didn't had to pay anything. A ranger came with us and gave us a lot of explanations FOR FREE ! The desert sections are slowly recovered of vegetation but it still interesting...and free😉
Report Check-InCame after 5pm. No one around, all was locked (except the gate). Water tap on the back still works. An older gentleman came few min after we showed up, told us to park anywhere we like and assured us it’s very peaceful at night. Told us that he-works here during the day and lives 2 min outside the gate if we need anything.
Report Check-InQuit for camping. Offices were being rebuilt, so no amenities when we came.
