Beautiful park, very few people parked and staying overnight. Free Water available along the southeast edge of large parking area. Good level parking area with good cell phone signal. Very nice little town.
Report Check-InTHERE IS NO SANI DUMP OR WATER AVAILABLE UNLESS YOU PAY TO BE AT THE CAMPGROUND WHICH IS AT THE SAME PLACE BUT INCLUDE ALL THE SERVICES
Report Check-InNot far from the highway so didn’t expect it to be as quiet as it was. Huge park with plenty of flat surfaces. Called and left our info as previous reviews stated. Very easy. Appreciate the nice free spot. Very quiet- only the sound of frogs! 5g on verizon. Bathrooms available were pretty basic but flush toilets that were clean. Perfect spot for a night passing through. Woke in the morning to a few couples/families out walking the park. Still very peaceful and calm and close to nearby service stations, grocery, & fast food if need services.
Report Check-InStayed here one night. Really quiet. There were a few other campers around. Called and left a voicemail with our info. Some walkers around early in the morning, but they are quiet. Highly recommend.
Report Check-Insame park. love it here! only allowed 3 nights. 1 tenter came in last night. overall very happy with this park.
Report Check-Insame park. parked by the shelter with the picnic table. 3 rigs came in late yesterday evening, otherwise I was the only one in this side. quiet. well lit lots. no lights among the trees. nice fenced in playground with a water park for kids.
Report Check-Inlarge gray shade area, or anywhere on the pavement. dry camping only. bathrooms n trash available, utilities are there but don't use them.
Report Check-InAwesome spot, nice grassy area, call the number and left a message with license plate # . FREE
Report Check-InOur third stay here, always a great spot . We stayed by the grandstand bleachers as the ground seemed soft . I’d advise to stay closer to the grassier area as the neighbors were target practicing and lots of dogs barking at night .
Also stop in at Tia Juanita’s for a meal, great food
This is a large county park with multiple parking areas, playground, restrooms. You are allowed to park for 3 days. There are NO hookups. You must call 409-267-2644 and leave your name, vehicle type, license plate number and state. Area to park in is not specified. I parked in a large paved lot near the arena behind the bleachers. very clean park in a nice quaint town.
Report Check-InLOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Large park for you and your dogs to run in. everyone's friendly and cool. if you need a vet, go to Winnie Vet Clinic.
Report Check-InWe were passing by here while on route to Rutherford Beach, LA so we stopped to take a break and check it out but did not stay. The park looks very well kept, green and spacious and there were 4 campers set up for the night. We filled a few water jugs while here.
Report Check-InIn the Stowell County Park, we spent one night. Free.
Maximum 3 nights. We normally need to register with the city but we arrived a Saturday nobody answered. We spent the night without any problem nobody has come to bother us. Other present RVs
max 3 day stay. NOT ALLOWED to use electric hook up and water. need to take a permit ( free) by phone or in person at 211 Broadway Ave, Winnie, TX 77665
Report Check-Inif you use my GPS position it will take you to the entry to the park, I parked on the left side 2nd spot. water, power and sewer. can stay for 3 days, there are no signs with any info on who or where to check in. county employees are friendly and just wave at you. I've seen big diesel pushers, trailers, van life. I'm in a truck camper. park is very clean, dog friendly, play ground for the kids. very quiet at night. lots of people use park during the day. they are having a rodeo Thurs, Fri and Sat. so expect it to be busier here. $10 entry to rodeo. grocery store 5 min walk. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Host Yukon truck camper.
Stayed one night. Had no problem. Super quiet. Absolutely recommend!
Report Check-InGreat place to stay for Maximum of Three Nights with NO HOOKUPS.
Must call Park Office Number and leave Message with Vehicle Info and Tag Number. Park Office Number is 409-267-2644
Report Check-InOn our way back home. Good place to sleep. I noticed there is no train whistling here!
Arrêt sur le retour vers les îles. Notez qu'il n'y a pas de sifflet de train ici... C'est tranquille loin de l'autoroute 10.
Very good place to stay for the night. I wrote a post 3 years ago and it's gone. I noticed there is no train whistle here. No dump station too.
Bon endroit pour une nuit. J'avais publié un commentaire positif il y a 3 ans, il a disparu. ce que je remarque, c'est aucun sifflet de train ici. Aucune station de vidange d'eau noire non plus.
Be sure to check if there is an event. We drove 5 hours to get here and the campground was closed for an event that took place across the street. We didn’t stay here obviously.
Report Check-InI've paid good money for what this place gives out for free. You can get water and dump here. Didn't stay overnight but it would be a good place.
Report Check-InAn excellent spot! This spot is pretty much a free campground! The spots north of the playground have electricity, water, as well as sewer hookups. South of the playground just have electricity and Water.
We stayed for 3 nights and there were 3-8 other RVs and camper vans parked with us during that time. Tons of room - probably 30 or more spots
We used the electricity during the nights because there was a massive cold wave in the area and we needed it to power our heater. Most others were using electricity as well. The electricity is available at all times - not just at night. The only downside of this place is that for some reason the restroom stalls don't have doors. They are still usable but you might need a friend/partner to stand outside and make sure no one else goes in while you're in there.
Please be quiet and respectful and treat this place nicely! It's a hidden gem! Winnie is a lovely town - check the local businesses while you're here! There are several restaurants and stores within walking distance.
Report Check-InA police officer came in the early evening and we walked out to greet him. He said "just wanted to see if youre ok. dispatch told me to check on you". We said we were fine and he left. We called the park before we arrived and left a message to get the permit. There were two other rigs in the park when we arrived. The electric did not work, but the water did. There is a playground, picnic table, and trash cans. Spot was level. Lots of grass to walk a dog. Quiet. Full Verizon signal. Spent one night here.
Report Check-InNice and quiet ! Restrooms are clean but don't expect too much privacy. Thanks Winnie !
Report Check-InQuiet place a few miles / minutes away from main road. We are alone and safe under a tree. Stadium next door but nothing else. Good stop for a night on the road.
Report Check-InVery grateful for this app and for this park. It was a peaceful overnight stay as the comments said. I will stay here again tonight before moving on.
Report Check-InGreat park we stayed 2 nights, caller the Chamber of commerce for a permit, sent an email and got no response, there was 5 other rigs no one caller for permit. the is electricity, water and sewer but we are advised not to hook up. Market is a 10 min walk. Would definetly come back if in the area.
Report Check-InGreat public park, it’s safe and it has a new playground and bathroom. The park also offers water and electrical hookups, 15 amp. It would make a great spot for a night or two. You can see more on our:
IG @tenaj_tino_
Huge place, nicely kept. Stopped off for quick potty break and was able to use the dump after being on beach for the weekend. Such a nice and quiet location. No one bothered us. Seems all the septic hookups are located by the playground area. There are several. Place will accommodate 40+ feet rigs.
Report Check-InAwesome spot for the night. There are bathrooms right next to the spots. Heads up that tuesday morning the landscape crew comes through to do some mowing at about 9 am. I onlt stayed one night and the only reason I didn't stay longer is because there is no public wifi that I could find in the area.
Report Check-Inthis is our second time at this place. it is great if you have kids- right at the fairgrounds and sometimes people are here with their horses. there is a splash pad and a playground as well. we discovered the one spot with sewer and electric- it is on the side closest to the entrance. plenty of solar at this place if you have it and dont need the hookup. bathrooms are open when we have been here (late Feb and now early April).
Report Check-InPower and water was on plus a dump outlet at each site but we were told on the phone not to hook up and not to stay more than 3 nights, taking on water is OK if the water is on. When we called for a permit the answering machine just says you can stay three nights. There was a 5th wheel and and two camper vans in addition to us plus about 15+ more empty spots. Easy in-out for any size day or night, seems safe enough but not much to offer as a destination. Seems like if people avoid hooking up this location may remain free and available.
Report Check-InGoing on our third night here and it has been great. This small town has any amenities you may need (grocery, laundry, carwash) and plenty of food options. The park is clean and quiet though there are frequent people stopping through to walk or play on the playground. Someone was even barrel racing with their horse in the arena. The bathrooms are nice to have nearby and have remained open at night since we’ve been here. No power but plenty of opportunity for solar charging. Water is on. Good stopover to avoid the big city.
Report Check-InWe didn't stay the night as the Walmart in Vindor was really quiet... stopped here on our way to Houston. We got water from one of the many spigeots by the fairgrounds and there were porta pottys in the parking area. There was a sign by the RV parking area that said to call for more info. There were several workers and etc around no body said anything to us. Thank you Winnie for the facilities!!
Report Check-InGreat place to spend the night! rather quiet at night! Amazing this place is free! public toilets near the station. Not really clean.
Report Check-InNice quiet county park on both sides of the road. We stayed here one night.
Its FREE. we filled our 25 gallon water tank.
PLEASE respect places like this so they will remain i po en for us to use.
Great spot! Sad that we had to leave because there’s a couple drug addicts in the camper along the fence line. My husband went to ask them where the bathroom was and found them putting needles in their arms. Going to call the county about it tomorrow morning since we arrived at 9pm.
Report Check-InWe pulled in just before sunset. There are only 2 other rigs the Friday after Thanksgiving. Very quiet and safe.
the water works. We filled our 20 gallon tank. The electric is turned off.
No dump station. It says 3 night max. We are only staying 1 night.
**** 4 stars out of 5.
Easy access, large turnaround's, spacious grassy sites, free water, dump station, 3 day free stay, large mature trees for shade, closest Walmart 25 miles in Beaumont.
Report Check-Ingreat overnight spot with fire rings and playground for the kids. there is electricity at the sites, but it was turned off. we were at the site where the main circuit breaker box was and the were 15 and 30 amp breakers in it, but all were turned off, as well as the main 200 amp breaker. someone above my pay grade did that, so I didn't feel it was my place to turn anything on. we didn't need it anyway. there are water spigots at each site, too, but we didn't need water, either, so didn't try it out. looks like there are even sewer hookups we didn't use. some commenters said they didn't see any hookups and it was a large parking lot. that's where the iOverlander coordinates are. you can camp there, but the camping sites are about 100 yards to the north, on the other side of the playground. I would also say this is not tent friendly, as they lock the bathrooms at sundown, so, unless you have a self contained tent ....
I gave it 4 stars for no electricity at the sites, when it's wired for electricity. but, it's a high 4, because as a free boondocking spot it can't be beat.
Stayed the night after calling the number in private posts, electric not available to keep the site free. Great stop
Report Check-InPark is located in Winnie Texas. It is free for up to 3 days. There is water and electric but recommend not to hook up as they would like to keep the stay free. Some parking spaces have electric boxes. We were able to get a few gallons of water for our tank, we called the park office and asked it was okay. Grassy and soft but able to pull in okay. Perfect place to rest for 3 days if you are self contained with solar etc.
Report Check-Inwe visit today and it is a free parking with water, dump station and electricity.
Report Check-InGreat park in Winnie, TX. When we were there the water and power was not working FYI. There is a big pen for horse riding and while watching some cowboys practice their craft they offered us a ride!
Report Check-InStayed here three nights over christmas. Ended up not having a permit (when I called office was already closed) but didn’t get bothered.
Quiet, level, sun and shade, power outlets (didn’t try them), water taps, restrooms (prison style, without doors), free.
Better if you stay on the grass near the playground for the kids. Less noise. The big parking lot is more noisy.
Report Check-InFree permit up to 3 days. Call or go to the county Chambers in Stowell, 211 Broadway Avenue. They told us it was No hook-up but we used the amenities by dumping and filling water up before leaving.
Quite noisy , close to main road.
Great place. We called, left a message and they called back. They asked a couple of questions about our car and told us we can stay for free for 3 days. Our children played in the park the whole time we stayed there. Water, electricity, playground, quiet, clean, free.
Report Check-InGreat for the kids to play around. Very quiet except for a few persons who seemed to have a fight in the middle of the night.
There is electric outlets also throughout the park but I don't know if we can use those. We didn't need them (we have solar panels) so didn't use them.
Water + dump. Great pit stop!
3 days overnight parking permit required, for free. Call Chamber County at 409-267-2644.
Big park with playground and some trees. There is water available and dump stations.
