Latest Check-Ins

I had all papers for the dog ready and had done the anti parasite treatment on the 11th at a veterinary practise near Colca( today is the 16th). The guy at SENASA told me the 5 days that need to pass between treatment and crossing into Chile would only have passed on the 17th, so I should come back the next day. I went to the SENASA post at the border, no problem and I got the paper within 20 mins. Staff was super friendly.

Well, today the guy working here was extremely unhelpful. Our dog gets her anti-parasite meds according to the schedule and the last one was 4 days ago. He didn't want to help us (Friday morning), as you have to give the meds 5 - 30 days before crossing the border. Maybe she would get a parasite today was his argument. He said we can do it tomorrow at the border too. So, we'll try that.

Also made a fuss about our rabiës vaccine having a validity of 3 years. Had to pull out the vaccine specs and anti-bodies test (from our Dutch vet..) to prove it.

All in all a frustrating experience and to avoid that, please check the document I've attached to the photos. It has all the details you need to cross to Chile.

We'll update the iOverlander pets icon at the border when we cross tomorrow. Good luck!

Easy process! We’re here on a Monday at 11am and we’re done by noon. Like said before, fill or paperwork with a woman on the first floor. She can help you fill out the document. She will stamp it along with making copies of your rabies/vaccination documents as well as the health cert and bank receipt. Then she will take you upstairs for another woman to enter more information into her computer. They will ask how long you will be in Chile. No one else was here, only waiting was while they typed in our info.

Senasa is closed on Saturdays, we tried although we already thought that they’d be closed. So I let this know for the next people who try 😜

Report Check-In

We showed up at 3pm on a Friday, and we’re out in about an hour. First, paperwork with a woman on first floor, then inspection with vet on second floor. Need to bring health certificate from Peru, vaccinations certificate, and receipt of bank deposit. You also fill out an application when you arrive.
