Description

Nice hike through the woods with vistas of many lakes. You come to a T-intersection with two options to descend to the lakes. We did the 5 lakes option and our round trip was 4.7 miles. If the weather was warmer I would have swam. The water is so crystal clear, and turquoise blue. There is a "pay booth" that we parked next to, and the Guard did not charge us.

Very nice walk in rainforest. The path is well marked and there are lot tropical plants and flowers. The views on lagunas are wonderful! For information we tried to do the loop but we didn't success, the "path" is not marked, very sleepy and steep, it was too dangerous with my kids unless it was not the good way (we try to pass between the 2 lakes). The swim in Cinco Laguna (at the end of official path) is very nice! Finally we have done 8km. The guard ask us our laguna's ticket.

Nice trail. Did the out and back. Dog friendly. The guy at the pay station just wanted me to sign a paper. Didn’t need to pay but I paid for a pass to use later. Don’t bother driving in to this lake… no swimming or personal SUP/kayaks/etc allowed 😂

We did an out and back on the trail today, about 4 miles. We parked at the entry kiosk where the trail starts as instructed by the staff. You can't swim at the first lake you pass but you can swim at the second one at the end of the trail. There's even a changing room there. Water is pretty and clear. We asked if we could camp further down the road from the gate closer to the lakes and were told it is not allowed. We saw several varieties of orchids blooming on the trail.

It is possible to make a circular route out of the hike instead of going back the same way: At the end of the trail you will reach a small meadow. If you continue along the lakeshore, you will see a footpath on the right that leads directly into the forest. Follow this path for a few minutes until you see a house on the right. Turn left there and go uphill for another 10 to 15 minutes and you will reach a road. Turn left there, thumb down the occasional pickup truck or stroll along this quiet and scenic road to the Mirador Laguna la Cañada. Call a taxi there or walk another 2.5 km back to the starting point.

The trail is open now, amazing views! We parked our car at the entrance road to the Lake Pojoj where the guard is.

Report Check-In

Hiking trail is open although the people at the toll booth are not eager to say it because they can not imagine somebody wants to walk 1.30 hours there and back. But beautiful hike with good look out points!

Sadly, still closed. The guy at the entrance didn't know when they will open it again.

Report Check-In

Hiking trail is still closed. Apparently the trail “collapsed” and “broke,” must have had a landslide or something.

Report Check-In

We visited today but the trailhead was closed. They said it’d be open again in the low season, beginning of March

Don't miss this hike, it was the best hike we have done in mexico, the lakes are beautiful, the trail is well maintained and easy to follow and it's not too hot or humid!

Make sure to park at the guard station, he is very friendly and looks after ur rig. The hike starts 100m from the guard station to your left.
We first made the mistake and drove to the "5 lakes" entrance which is a bit further down the road, but there is no hiking trail on that side.

Easy 8km return 700ft elevation gain total, just goes up and down a little bit and you can swim at the end!

As described. Well marked trail and very pleasant. Took us 1h30 each way, with lots of stopping.

Great hike to 5 Lagos. An extra $25M pp to enter area. We were able to swim in the lake at the end of the trail, the water is clear and cool. Happy to find this on iOverlander.

Nice place in the jungle, easy walk and nice view on the lacs

We also enjoyed this hike a lot and agree with good hiking shoes. It was very muddy for us in February.
Great views of the various lakes on the way.

We did the little trail on the jungle which was nice !
It offers nice views on the lake and it's cool to find a hiking trail in good shape. We parked our camper at the entrance of the gate where you need to pay and the 2 men said they keep an eye on our camper. They were really nice and gave them information about the trail.
Our advice: bring good shoes it was super moody for us !
