Description

One of our favourite spots in Colombia! We spent four relaxing days here camping by the river, swimming and reading our books. Cost: 30,000 pesos per night (two people, one tent). Friendly owners. There is a small shop selling drinks and snacks (where you can also charge phones), a clean toilet block and an outdoor shower. Huge, level, grassy area for pitching tents or parking cars/trucks/motos. Some of the Rio Claro rafting tours end here so during the day there are trucks coming and going to pick up boat-loads of tourists, but overall it's a very tranquil spot. Turn-off to the campground from the main road is at: 5.906073, -74.856185. Approx 5km on a gravel road from the turn-off to the site.

This place is u expected and a great place to stop and take a break from route 60. You can camp right by the river and hear it all night. It is popular with the locals but it is a very chill vibe. Bathrooms are clean. Shower is outdoors (river water I think). There were some bugs about for sure.🍁

Report Check-In

Great place in nature! The river can be clear and blue, but after rain it turns brown. It’s good for swimming and very refreshing. We had loads of sand flies and couldn’t really enjoy being outside.
I would highly recommend you to to the rafting tour. I entered the river with my kayak close to the place where you leave the main road and had a blast paddling down the river. With high water levels it was a bit rough but doable with my inflatable kayak. Price was still 15k ppn

Report Check-In

Nice natural camping, clean toilets, didn't try the shower. Price 15k cop/pppn. Very nice owner, smiling and welcoming. We bought two beers each and he gave us the third for free, so we bought the fourth 😂 Nice and calm place. Recommended.

Lovely Place for camping!! a lot of space nice facilities and great location and not just for the beautiful river and a perfect stop between Bogota and Medellin..... empty during weekdays. Pet friendly! despite the sign the have at the entrance about big dogs..that's Mainly for everyday locals we came here with our two German shepherds and they were fine with that. no rig size restrictions they enter here with big trucks too.
lovely place one of our favorites campsites in warm weather in Colombia. enjoy

Sehr grosse flache Wiese, direkt am Rio claro. Saubere Sanitäranlagen. Sehr freundliche Besitzer.

Fantastic campsite! The river is bright blue and has a little sand beach to get in, lots of places to string up a hammock. The family running it is really friendly, but not too in your business. Outdoor shower blasts water out. Big grassy field to kick a ball around. 10/10, loved it here. Better cell reception with Tigo than Claro, still spotty. 15k pp

Report Check-In

Camping by Rio Claro. this is where the rafting boats go out of the water and the trucks come to pick them up. One small hut selling beers, coffee, etc. until 9h00 PM. Huge grass land can accomodate any king of rigs. 15k pesos per person

Report Check-In

We set up our hamacs under the palapa and parked our motorcycles next to it. The tienda on site has drinks and snacks, and the lady there had us pay 30 000 for two to camp.
Very nice spot with a beautiful river. Baños and shower. Although the shower is outside, so plan to bath at night or with a swimsuit ha ha
Sand flies for sure, but very nice spot overall.

Report Check-In

This is a hidden gem! The gravel road form teh main road to the campsite is in great shape. The campsite is on a beautiful river with a small restaurant for snacks and drinks. The family that cares for this place is super kind. The river water is cool, clear, and refreshing. The Mom and Daughter showed us where to spot some great birds... including a BABY TOUCAN! We saw a lot of toucans (2 different kinds) and some mini macaws that were great! The caretakers have horses, chickens, and sheep... really a great place. No wifi and cell coverage for us was very spotty. Flushing toilets and an outdoor shower. We HIGHLY recommend this place and wish we could have stayed longer!

Report Check-In

Great camp right on a beautiful river, basic facilities with no wifi. Amazing bird activity (toucans, macaws, and more).... the family has sheep, horses, and chickens that roam around the pasture. Small restaurant with snacks.

Report Check-In

The place is amazing, better come during the week, you can call Don Rubén (the owner) to see availability. The sounds and nature by the river are from a movie scene.

Report Check-In

It is a good place to park motor homes. There is a huge space with trees very close to the river. Bathrooms, showers are available and also a site to wash clothes. There is a small shop. We stayed there two nights and enjoyed the place. For us was impossible to get electricity for our motor home, during the day the temperature is high. We paid 15.000 COP ppn

Report Check-In

Just to confirm, place is still here. Simply beautiful. Sign says 12k pp.

Report Check-In

Nice place, but it's not possible to get energy and it is very hot.

Report Check-In

Lots of people during the holiday season during the day. We stayed from Wednesday to Thursday and shared the place with two groups of locals and some other overlanders. As there is lots of space, it is ok. There was no music from the others. Other than that, we confirm the rest of the descriptions.

Report Check-In

buen sitio para acampar, cerca al río, no hay restaurante pero si tienes todo en tu vehículo puedes pasarlo muy bien..

Report Check-In

We arrived on a Tuesday and had the whole place to ourselves, perfect campsite, lovely river to swim, stars and fireflies at night 24k for two and camper great spot if you have it to yourself

Report Check-In

We arrived Thursday late afternoon, everything was peaceful and quiet until Friday morning about 11am. Many motorists and cars arrived, we guess at lunchtime there were about 50 people swimming and bbq-ing, which would have been ok as long as they didn’t turn the music on. It was our worst ‘music experience’ in 1,5 years South America. I believe you could hear the music 500 meters away, so loud. This lasted until 4pm. We left early next morning as Saturday wouldn’t be much better. We paid 12k per person. He first spoke about 5k per day for electricity (only available during night) but I believe he dropped it because of our bad experience as he didn’t ask for when we paid. It must be such a nice place if you have the place for yourself though.

Report Check-In

we stayed for two nights (thursday- friday). we were alone. very clean. so pleasant. after rain rio claro is muddy.
we payed 10.000cop each pn included our sprinter camper van..

Report Check-In

Ask the owner which tree a toucan family (mr & mrs & baby) live. If you are lucky like us, the baby puts his head out of the trunkhole! Basic facilities, but the sounds of all the birds and insects are impressive, nice swim in rio, campfire, nobody here during weekdays: this is what overlanding is about. Good gravelroad to get here, suitable for all vehicles.

Report Check-In

We saw many birds, like 2 species of tucan. Very nice place, but we think they could make a better dishwasher, it's really uncomfortable. clean bathrooms.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite, friendly staff. We were able to park by the river and still plug in with electricity (with an extension to the bar). 12,000 per person; they may or may not charge extra for electricity if you need it.

Horses, cows and sheep roaming around. Lots of butterflies. Very quiet, no lights on at night. No private shower - just an outdoor one by the river.

Overall beautiful and great place to stay!

Report Check-In

Nice and big place, perfect for relax, can be busy but not overnight. first raft arrive aeound 10 and last one at 5 and than no one around....

Report Check-In

Great spot, quite and very relaxing, stayed two days, had the place all to myself. Not sure why people said the old guy was grumpy, he was friendly and nice. Price now is 12000 per person.

Report Check-In

Basic campsite. Outdoorshowers. Run by a very nice family. Old men is totally not grumpy but very nice. Only outdoorshowers, but quiet at night. no wifi, but drinks etc. available until 8-9pm. can be busy in the daytime or weekend as the rafting tours will end here.
Recommend for 1-2 nights stay on the way to Medellin.

Report Check-In

All as described. We had the place to ourselves. Camping costs 24,000 pesos for two in one tent. Overall a very nice stay.

Report Check-In

When we arrived the place was very busy but everyone left before dark. We had a very quiet peaceful night. There was a ton of rain upstream so the river was in flood, we did not visit the park for that reason. Please pack out all your trash, the owner rakes all of it into a pile and burns it! Toxic!

Report Check-In

arrived around 5 pm on a saturday and were essentially the only people here. around 7 pm some local dudes rolled into the spot next to us and set up a large sound system with typical colombian hits.

i guess that’s to be expected at times but it was a bit of a downer.

the night before at the reserve was very quiet.

Report Check-In

Long time ago that we put out the hammocks. Thank you so much for sharing the place. Perfect spot between Bogotá and Medellín to spend time in nature. Bring wood and meat and enjoy your barbecue. Swimming in the river is great. We paid 12.000 pP at grumpy grandpa - arriving at sunset with an expensive rig makes it hard to negociate. But actually grandpa is a friendly guy. If you travel in a big rig: the ‘narrow, windy gravel road’ is used by lorries the whole day.

Report Check-In

They’re trying to charge 12000 pp now, we settled on 10. The owner (the guy who’s herding the cattle mornings and evenings) is a bit of a dipshit. Dealing with Deyanira, the woman attending, is very pleasant. That shower is as great as it is simple, very enjoyable. The river was low, very nice to swim in. Nice and quiet, which to us is 99% of the value here.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Much better option than the camping at the reserve. we also chose to walk into the reserve, then raft back here to camp. Walk took about an hour, but isn't bad in the am before it gets hot.

Report Check-In

We are travelling by bicycle. Really nice and relax place to stay. The 5km gravel road to reach the camping is a little bit bad, but nothing impossible. Friendly owners, clean place, there are no dogs and only few chickens (clean, no noise pollution, you can eat without any animals demands). You have To carry your food because there is no restaurant, only a bar with some drinks. There is only electricity during the night, this is why beers are not so fresh on afternoon. Nice river and beach to take a bath. The dueño let us using the roof to install the tent below, maybe because we were alone. 10000 per person and per night.

Report Check-In

Nice big gras area to camp. The river is nice for swimming. Bring some wood to make a fire! Wie payed 10000 Pesos per people per night.

Report Check-In

We had the place to ourselves. Nice people at snack bar which we got power from BUT it always seems to go off before midnight. Clean restroom with seat but no TP. We walked to Reserve in the morning, (took 1.25 hours) and did caverns (20,000 PP) and then rafting (25,000 pp) and they end up back here. Only white horse and goats (and a few vultures) when we were here. spotty cell reception.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp. It was incredibly hot and humid when we were there but the river is a perfect place to cool off. Very quiet and peaceful. Outdoor shower. We didn't see any cows but there were a few sheep and one white horse.

Report Check-In

Beautiful and ample campsite on a clear river bank. It is 5km from main road down a narrow and windy street and although it is unpaved it is a bit rough. Rafting down the river is an amazing experience where you can see incredible vegetation. Basic food can be ordered on premises. Small convenience store for snacks and beverages. Electricity and water. Toilets and open air shower. Kind owner. COP$ 10.000 per person

Report Check-In

Awesome place to camp. a lot of space to park your car. a river to swim and lots of fireflies in the night. bit be careful, cows will eat everything you have left outside your car. so put your garbagebags on the car and your shoes in your car.

Report Check-In

Awesome camping by the River! There is a massive open field to camp in and you can be as close to the showers and bathrooms as you want or far far away. During the day tour groups get picked up after rafting at the little snack stand. So the further you are away from the snack stand the further you are away from the action. still 10k per person per night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful and tranquil spot right by the river. 10k per person with bathrooms and a cold outdoor shower with great water pressure. We were here over the weekend and trucks came to pick people up from rafting between 11am and 5pm but it wasn't disturbing at all. (If you're facing the river, the spot at the far right is best if you want to be out of their way when they arrive).
