Latest Check-Ins

Coming from Puente Cuyabeno we entered this backroad in Coco heading to Misahuallí. In our opinion totally not worth the 4 hour detour of partially tarmac but 80% gravel and bumpy road. Yes it is doable with 2wd (no river crossings) but the scenery is only nice starting 1.5 hours before reaching Misahuallí. There are parts that allow you to view the Napo river, but definitely not more than driving other roads in the Amazon. Halfway through the road is shut due a new bridge that is being built (see other post in IO), it is possible to continue though. I would
Advice to drive the first 40km from Misahuallí as a day trip, not all the way to Coco.

Report Check-In

Beautiful scenic road, ripio in very good condition. We didn't have any river or creek crossings. Possible for every car.
The last part to Coca is asphalted, but be warned: there are some serious damages which can cause lots of trouble to your car, so take it easy.

Report Check-In

Mid january about half of the way one of the river crossings had 1m deep water. We decided against.

Report Check-In

Great road. Get to see real, living, field working indigenous villages (not the ones in movies or tours). Took some 3 hours from Coca to Puerto Napo

Report Check-In

Great road..Much nicer than a highway around. We saw monkeys and a toucan from the car. Very tropical on most of the road. The small river crossings are perfect to walk down a little for a dip. Moving very slowly and shallow. River stone base make them easy crossings. People are not so used to seeing gringos so good experience to say hi to locals on the way. Very picturesque. We went to Rurrenabaque and Manu National Park - I prefer this drive. Slow but easy roads and
nice scenery.

Report Check-In

There is a road between those two places along Rio Napo. Not really visible on OSM. It's partially gravel, partially tarmac road. 4wd not needed, but couple of shallow river crossings on the way.
