Description

Great place to camp and get out of the city. A lot cooler up here in the mountains. They have fun mountain bike trails, zip line and many other outdoor activities. The family owns a forestry and a saw mill. Very nice, clean bathrooms, and hangout out area for a rainy day. Playground for kids. Kitchen sink and drinkable water. Nice owners that speak perfect Spanish, German and English. Steep and narrow road to get to, but everything is paved and shouldn't be a problem for anyone.

Latest Check-Ins

Came around 16h with pouring rain, heard about the price (8000C pp). Personnel was in a hurry to go home, not helping or friendly. Called the boss who laughed at us for asking if there was a possibility for a discount on or the campsite or activities for the next day.
Although we choose to stay, could not make it uphill till the campsite itself (with 4wd). Stayed at the very basic bathroom facilities.
Not worth the money for camping or trespassing only.

We arrived here at 5:30PM after climbing up a steep road with lots of pot holes. Everyone was gone but we got lucky to meet a guy who was on his way home from work. He checked us in. 8000colones per person as described. No idea how they come up with that as it is outrageous for what you actually get. It was raining heavily and gotten dark by the time we parked in our spot and we just didn't feel the place so we figured to leave again early next morning. Well... turns our there was a mountainbike downhill race the next day which was a fun surprise! The weather was much better too so we explored the area a little bit. Beautiful forest with a lot of paths to hike. Still expensive but it did end up being a nice spot for a night with some random experience...

Primera visita a este lugar con todo el equipo de "overlanding" para independencia absoluta. Tiene muchísimos espacios disponibles para esta modalidad pero también para gente que quiere acampar incluso con lo básico. Definitivamente volveremos pronto :)

Unless you are here for the mountain biking, this place is incredibly expensive for what you get. We got here close to dark or we would have found another camp. $8000cr per person. No showers. View of the valley only if you park next to the sawmill equipment. Bathrooms are clean. No cell service. Wifi only when standing within 50 feet of the house. Pack of dogs barked all night. So, unless you are here for the bike trails... look somewhere else.

Check-in close at 17h30 but members of the family were there until 18h ish! Warm welcome. Great price only 5000 colones Bathrooms are super clean! Their is a shower outside but only cold water. (Perfect during the day but not very useful at night). Beautiful view of San José from the mountain top. Kids friendly! Close to the road so you will hear some cars and dogs barking. I would give it an overall of 8/10. Pura Vida !

This is a great place to go mountain biking. The trails are great but fairly short. It takes about 45 minutes to bike to the top and then you can choose from about six different trails through the forest ranging from blues to single blacks. I didn’t do the downhill run (which is dumb now that I think about it). But I will not stop and had some huge traps and I didn’t have my full face helmet (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it). The other trails are fun technical trails through the forest with a bunch of berms and jumps. Arturo, the owner of the bike park (I’m not sure if he owns the whole place) was super friendly and helpful. Dogs are allowed here but unless your dog can mix it up with a pack of dogs some of which are aggressive, we’d recommend camping behind one of the houses which unfortunately isn’t as flat of an area. Overall this is a must do if you’re in the San Jose area and are a mountain biker. Clean bathrooms but no showers. No power unless you can park on the tiny soccer field ext to the bathrooms/office/kitchen which only works if you are a small camper van/truck camper.

Amazing place. Nice colder and dryer weather than San Jose and the coast. Good wifi, clean and pure water, clean toilets, level ground, many friendly dogs, awesome mtb trails, hiking, grass, nice views of the city, .. The Owner Arturo speaks english and is very friendly and helpful. Playgrounds for kids and tables under a roof with electricity to relax and have a bbq. Spot to handwash clothes. Big rig friendly. Highly recommended!

Arturo the owner phone and whatsapp +506 8844-3102 I think is better to call before.

arrived after 4pm and the owners were gone. I called several days before telling them I may arrive after 4pm and was told it's not a problem, just call. well after half an hour, I was able to reach the owner with help from a caretaker. it rained all night and there was a lot of droppings from the dogs. still, it is a nice facility with level ground for trucks with roof top tents. very chilly at night. clean restrooms available 24/7, 5,000 colones per person for camping.

This place was very nice. The owner speaks perfectly English and is very helpful. He showed us everything and we could use wood for a fire (it’s cold up in the mountains).
It was very quiet and clean. There are two camping spots. One near the toilets and one in an open field. We chose the one near the toilet.
There are a lot of dogs around, but there are harmless and one even guarded our car in the night after some petting.
You can do several activities at the place since it is an adventure park after all: mountain biking, paintball, air soft and hiking to the waterfall.

Overal: good and clean area - cold showers - average WiFi (strongest signal is near the reception) - amazingly kind people - cold nights - free use of kitchen supplies.
