The procedures changed, you know have to give them a proof of hotelbooking and proof of enough financially funds for 3months.
But... they have to send everything to Maputo and it takes around 3 weeks to get the visa.
We called the embassy in Capetown to double check, and they confirmed that it takes 3 to 4 weeks before getting the visa.
They could not tell us if we could get the visa at the border.
Cost still 1000R pp.

German & Swiss passport:
bring strong nerves!! we had a man who didn't explain ANYTHING. so what you need:
passport, 1000rand per person (the increased the price), either a photo or you can do it there for 80rand for 2 person, a print out of a accommodation confirmation in Moz, and the filled out form they give you.
we came at 9am on a Friday, he said it will be done on Monday, so don't expect them to be too fast.
also note: the 1000rand per person needs to be paid in as a deposit at the nearest FNB bank. ask a FNB person to help you with it and take the receipt with you.

Dutch citizens:
They need 1 passportphoto and 1 passportcopy.

Make sure you know which border you enter and exit and a complete hotel address for the form.

We had to deposit R600,- pp at the FNB bank and could pick up the visa in the afternoon at 2PM.

Seems to be cheaper to arrange the visa here rather than at the border.

Single entry (1 month) Visa for Mozambique is 600 Rand for Swiss and German passport. Bring your passport, the money and two pictures between 8am and noon. One day to process.

They were super efficient and agreed to do it the same day as they would be closed for public holidays the following 2 days.
