Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
you have to register with immigration police and ask different police for permission to use the ferry if you're on motorbike or bicycle. wasnt a problem, they were all friendly and no one asked for any money. long line of trucks so will probably take a while if you're in a car and will cost some money. didn't have to provide any copies of passport or visa, they just register your details if you give them your passport.
Report Check-InMotorcycles can cross for free. Ferry runs every 15 min. or so from 8am until 4pm. There are food places around to eat before you cross. You’ll need to show your passport to an immigration officer. They asked us for money but we knew it was free and didn’t pay. We crossed during dry season after very heavy rains and it was quite muddy and slippery. So during rainy season it’s definitely a challenging ride. Took us 7 hours to Bomassa after heavy rains but only 4 hour coming back as it was dry. Pokola and Koba have hotels for 5k, in Bomassa you can only camp (ask Chief Gabi) and you can have a bucket shower!
