Something not right?

Description

Came here with our bicycles and saw this official but run-down place to camp. Plenty of spots to set-up for a night. Along the lake, some even have barbecue and tables. No facilities.

It was a nice place for one night. Right on the Mississippi, although the camping area is down in a well. basically. the fort was pretty cool and I awoke to mist on the Mississippi in the morning. lot of mosquitoes.

A great place, very peaceful under the shady oaks. Stayed up along the road towards the levee so I could watch the little alligators float in there. Interesting fortress, she ships floating by, and a little 1km quad trail to walk along the rivers edge is indeed very entertaining 😀. No-see-ums and biting flies are definitely out. Good cell service.

Beautiful place to camp, we were the only van there for the night. It was a nice place to explore, the nature there feels eerie.

spent one night, no fee, no issues, camp area too wet and muddy to park, so I stayed up on the road near the river, quiet, just river boats and frogs.

This spot is absolutely incredible and so gorgeous! went to the Southern Most Point in Louisiana and saw good reviews for this place. The reviews are accurate but it isn't an established camp ground. Maybe it was at one point? There are benches and bbq pits next to a lake and old fort. No t-mobile service and hardly 1 bar for Verizon. People drive by occasionally but its kind of tucked away so was quiet and peaceful

This was an unexpected find! We were just exploring the area and went to the "Southern most point in Louisiana" and on the way back up, we checked out Fort Jackson. It is a Civil War fort right on the Mississippi. Between the ships on the river and time exploring this cool fort, we were very entertained. Not something to go out of your way for but a great choice if you are in the area.
