Walmart - San Diego | Informal Campsite

We parked for 5 nights at 24hr fitness (near the Sam’s club). There used to be no security patrol on that side. There were about 20 people living in cars and RVs.

Walmart located in an ok neighborhood. It is located in a shopping center and there is security patrolling the area. I asked the security guard if overnight parking was permitted and he said he would not bother us, however, we were asked to move by a Walmart employee and mentioned that there is no overnight parking allowed and mentioned that we could move to Sam Ash Music (store next to Walmart) and they would allow 1 overnight parking.

Very busy Walmart. Seems okay. Do ask the security guard that’s patrolling with lights flashing. He said “ he won’t bother me, but the store does not like the over night parking, so may or may not get a knock on the door in the middle of the night.

Asked security if ok to stay here. Told that it was ok with them and that they wouldn't bother me, but that someone else might. Fell asleep and while the store is still open at 10:30, knock on the window. Guy said that his boss had sent him out to tell me I couldn't park here and had to leave. Took my license number etc. I'm glad others had a nice stay here. I, unfortunately, did not.

Seems like an okay Walmart compared to a lot of them I’ve stayed in over the years. Two security guards rolling around. Crossing my fingers

Security is actually pretty cool, just check with them (patrolling around in a truck with flashers on). Secluded parking lot on the Kohl's side with lit or shadowy placement options, regular noise level for a Wal-Mart area.

good place for travellers. we spent the night here, super safe. ask the security guards where to stay. It's a little noisy, but it doesn't get in the way.

Got here and went shopping. Parking lot was busy, homeless at the corner. We stayed and watched security in golf carts and black trucks drive around the property. They didn’t come over to us and we sat for a few hours eating, putting away groceries and purging goods in the Red Cross drop bins. When it got around 8:30pm, we decided to drive around and find one to ask where a good spot to park was. The security guy asked if we were staying the night and we replied, “if we are allowed we would love to,” he replied to park in a few of the back spots near the lawn and garden so they could keep a watch over us all night. It was the sweetest thing to know they were kind enough to let us stay and willing to keep an eye out for us all night. There are signs that say no parking overnight but this was my experience. My advise is go ask, no harm in asking. We are in an XL high top sprinter van. Couldn’t find water inside to fill up my jugs, but they do sell the 5 gallon jugs prefilled. A little noisy but nothing as bad as downtown San Diego street parking.

Slept two nights here, at the end of the parking lot (lawn & garden) in front of Chuck and Cheese. Security car till midnight, after that its you and God hehehe. Quiet nights, felt safe. Very unpaved.

There is a security truck constantly checking the parking lot. Asked for permission and was asked to park right next to highway. I am a sound sleeper and it was ok, but if you are a light sleeper, this place is not for you. Kind of liked to have a security truck constantly check the area so that you can sleep soundly.

No issues... Parked near lawn and garden. Actually pretty quiet.

Walmart to the rescue again. After a full day at 2 beautiful beaches. Moonlight beach and my new favourite off leash doggie beach just south of moonlight beach. We watched the sunset from the mountain and found this Walmart.
The highway is very close but it’s free 🙃🙃🙃right. Rosie has already crashed I’m not far behind her.

Plenty of space at Walmart parking lot. There is a sign “no overnight parking for trucks and RVs”. We checked with security that keeps driving around, they looked at our van (chevy van) and said we’d be fine.
