Description

No clue what this place was before and if it is accessible all the time. Its almost the size of a soccer field surrounded by forest. A level grassy area. Its 5 walking minutes from Piste and 1 km from the ruins. We came there at 5 pm and saw no one until we left in the morning at 7.45 am. Very quiet. No mosquitos, no trash! No facilities. Free.

Closed! With a chain link blocking the entrance :/

Report Check-In

All as described stayed one night to visit the ruins in the morning. Busses start rolling in around 10 am and all gone by 4:30. They spend their time cleaning their rigs. No problems at all. Would use this spot again. Parked here in a 25' Class C towing a car. I did not let the dog loose as there is garbage and broken glass around. They appear to be trying to clean it up by piling it and burning.

Report Check-In

Great spot to sleep before Chichen. Flat, but full of trash everywhere! We unfortunately had to keep our dog on a leash.

Report Check-In

still there, still free, still nice for one night! We saw a bus coming in the morning to make a break there (probably tourist bus), but the didn't bothered us at all and wished us a buen provecho for our breakfast :)

Report Check-In

Great spot, still here, still free. in many ways preferable to the pyramid inn. no one bothered us overnight.

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights, no problems. Quiet, free.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for one night. it was completely fine still. There was one other vehicle there when we arrived, it was a large RV with children. Felt completely safe. Left early to be at Chichen itza before the tour busses.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Peaceful and totally out of sight of the road. No facilities. Free.

Report Check-In

Stayed here without any problem, police check was on the main road about 500 meters from there. Saw one tent camper, felt ok :) No one bothered us, it was quiet enough and about 2 minutes drive from Chichén Itzá.

Report Check-In

We stayed two nights, nobody came by to check. During the day some big Buses and Mini Buses parked here too. Seemed like the drivers uses this place for a break but the area is big enough so you have enough space. Even we was a group of three camper vans. It’s 1,5 km to the ruins and parking at the ruins is 30 pesos. So you could also walk. Very quiet at night. The best option for visiting the ruins but do this early in the morning!

Report Check-In

Update on this camping spot - still as described and still available. We camped there last night without any visitors or problems. Highly recommended. There are actually two overflow parking spots- this one which is closer to the village of Piste and another closer to the turnoff for the ruins. That one seems to be used for parking most weekends but the one closer to Piste does not.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for the night, around 6pm the tourist police came and said he wasn't too sure if we should camp in our truck camper, he left to speak with his boss and returned after 10 minutes saying that this is an overflow parking lot and you have to pay, for 100 pesos for 2 adults the owner lets us stay. Now if this is true or not we don't know! We payed the 100 pesos and had a peaceful night. Around 10:30pm we saw the police again to check on us. We definitely felt safe.

Report Check-In

Perfect for one night free very close to Chichen Itza. No one came while we were there, but next afternoon we passed it leaving the ruins and someone was waving people in for parking.

Report Check-In

Very quiet, close to the ruins and surprisingly no garbage at all! Hidden from the road.

Report Check-In

As described. Perfect for one night.

Report Check-In

As described. Perfect to stay for a night.

Report Check-In

As others said, it's an old parking lot that has been almost entirely overgrown with vegetation. It's a fine spot for the night, hidden from the road and close to Chichen Itza.

Report Check-In

legit, once you drive in, there is bent grass@10 o'clock and a gravel lot 50m up. From the ruins, turn at the Piste town sign

Report Check-In

As described, probably an old parking lot now cover by grass. We arrived around 5:30pm and didn't see anybody until next morning at 7:30. Ideal to be in chitchen itza at the opening, what it's by the way highly recommended to avoid the crowd.

Report Check-In

As described. High grass. We drove in quite a bit so we could not be seen from the street. Some trash. Quiet.
