Description

Totally recommend visit to this small town. Carhue is small but full of local life with a big lake besides call Lago epecuen. It’s salty and so much that a man can float like in the Dead Sea!!! It has therapeutical uses. It’s a natural term just open to everyone! And there is a ghost town: epecuen village. A tourist village that in the 1985 was flooding and now you can visit the ruins of what it was an espectacular sommer village. There are banks, supermarkets, gas stations, hotels, hostels, Cabañas and campings. People don’t speak English so be patient, but they will try to help you on what they can and told everything about their history.

Currently there's a fee of ARS 600 per person to enter the ruins. If you come here, don't miss the interpretation center 1200m further. The lady there explains all that happened and why. I would even suggest you to go there before visiting the ruins. It makes the ARS 600 worth every penny.

Uma cidade engolida pelas águas. Restaram só ruínas. Nós da rabugentos_trip queríamos conhecer e ver de perto o que a força natureza fez.

First go to the museum! That's the only way to understand the flooded town. There was a tour guide that explained us all the buildings and history. Really interesting.
Entrance $300

Way more than one building still standing. I entered at least 6 of them and there was many others that I did not enter. Really worth it if you love ruins or love photography! Great place! Don't miss the abandoned slaughter house nearby out of town. The sunset from inside is gorgeous!
(I know signs say not to enter buildings but everyone does it and no one cares)

100p.p
Well for us it didn't really worth it but it's just our opinion. We thought were was more building still standing but everything is destroyed, absolutely everything except one house and one small building the rest it's just bricks on the floors.
If you have time and come by it probably worth to do the stop but not to change your planned road for it.
