Description

Long paved overlook in front of the lighthouse. I didn’t see any 'no parking' signs. One bar Verizon. Beautiful view. ATV activity below on dunes but quiet at night. Beautiful sunset. Park on North side away from interpretative sign for less traffic. Great site. No one bothered me.

Stayed 2 Nights. Never was bothered. Really nice spot. Verizon internet was 1 Bar

Report Check-In

Cool spot. Pulled in late while it was raining. Nobody bothered us. We were one of three vehicles overnighting. No bathrooms nearby. Able to get some cell service.

Report Check-In

Great place. Except for ATVs during the day very quiet. Even then they're not that loud. Great light show at night too from the lighthouse.

Report Check-In

as described. there was a big pullout on the road in on the right which looked good.

Report Check-In

4 bars for ATT, amazing, cute hallmark like lighthouse with an amazing view. One of the best places I have stayed. The lighthouse is decorated very cute for the holidays!

Report Check-In

Stunning place to spend the night. Lighthouse is super pretty at nigh with red and white beams.

Report Check-In

Stayed here one night with two other vans. No one was bothered and there are no "no" signs. I felt comfortable since another user said they said the sheriff allows it. Sunset is BEAUTIFUL and the lighthouse is gorgeous! Don't forget to step out after dark to see the red & white colors light up the sky. Easy paved road in, full bars AT&T, no ammenities - just parking. Would stay again.

Report Check-In

As reported no sign saying you can’t stay here. Beautiful spot and I love seeing the lighthouse actually working.

Report Check-In

Ok, I wasn't prepared for how cool of a spot this was going to be. The other comments are positive, sure, but holy crap this blew me away.

First and foremost, the lighthouse is absolutely gorgeous at night. The light show, which is basically what this is, is ridiculously beautiful. You should absolutely come here at night, preferably one that is misty.

Other important things - the fog horn mentioned is a super quiet one that I mistook for an owl. Kinda beautiful.
The ocean sounds are fantastic
Full 4g LTE for AT&T.
Big ol parking lot on a quiet street.

So yeah. You should stay here if you can, it's so cool.

Report Check-In

Absolutely stunning spot! Other vans overnighting as well.

Report Check-In

One of the most awesome places, to find! The lights (no horn), from the Lighthouse and the sunset from the Pacific Ocean…it’s an overnighters dream! I’m SO grateful for this app and the people that contribute! Thank you!

Report Check-In

Amazing spot to watch the sunset and sty the night, light house is beautiful too. Other overnight campers here, feels very safe

Report Check-In

Excellent spot! The volunteer lighthouse tour host is a full time rv’r and is delighted that this is allowed. Says the sheriff drives by and no problems. Rainy night but made the lighthouse look amazing! Only 2 other tonight camping. Lots of ATVs in the dunes below.

Report Check-In

This was a great place to park for the night. Was told that nobody would bother me.

Report Check-In

Nice spot. It’s a busy spot throughout the day with tourists and locals stopping to check out the view so I’d recommend parking nose or back in. A few other campers at night. Like someone mentioned, there is a signal horn from the coast that sounds regularly 24/7, but it didn’t bother us. Verizon signal not good. The lighthouse tour was cool.

Report Check-In

Not many folks mention that there is a fog horn blowing all. Night. Long. Otherwise it's great. I have full bars LTE through cricket and one heck of a sunset.

Report Check-In

This spot is way better than expected! The lighthouse is lovely especially at night and the ocean is visible from the parking lot. 1 bar Verizon (not good enough to work even with boost) we stayed a couple nights and both nights there were 5-10 overnighters that mostly all left in the morning like we did. If you walk down the road you will find Lake Marie Trailhead.. it’s a beautiful hike around the lake and even to the dunes and you can take your pets on leash! Hopefully this spot stays open!!

Report Check-In

Great overnight stay. Great view, quiet, and overnight parking not prohibited.
Bathrooms are walking distance 5 minute walk to Lake Marie. Bathrooms open dawn to dusk

Report Check-In

Perfect spot for a night . The lighthouse is gorgeous ! Sunset amazing ! Atv noise until
10:00, quiet after that .

Report Check-In

Stayed here. It was a quiet place to stay and good for a night. People come up the the overlook late at night (most likely teenagers hanging out) and early in the morning. No one bothered us. There is a fog horn the constantly blows.

Report Check-In

Nice night here watching the sun set. cell service is crap but a good spot to crash for the night.

Report Check-In

Stayed 1 night in our campervan. Nice spot overlooking the dunes and ocean. No traffic during the night and we had a quiet night's sleep. We took a tour of the lighthouse which was interesting and informative.

Report Check-In

this place looks nice, but is exposed to the road.

we ended up going to the State Park down the road since it was only $22 (cheap after Cali!) and included water, hot showers, and day use around the trail

Report Check-In

Lovely spot. Stayed for a night with no issues. Arrived after dark and there were a couple other rigs and vans spending the night. Nice and quiet, with an amazing view to wake up to! There are bathrooms nearby at the picnic area (open 6am-9pm)

Report Check-In

Great spot for a simple, quiet nights rest. Small trail to the dunes and beautiful view of the ocean. Cars coming and going for sunset, but once dark, I was the only one there and had no problems minus the hail storm at 3am. The lighthouse is a nice little touch.

Report Check-In

So I didn’t see any signs saying no camping, or anything else suggesting no parking. It’s just a pull out that been paved. We park our 40’ Skoolie here no issue. Cell coverage is good. There’s a museum and gift shop that sells soup bread bowls and coffee. You can also tour the light house (9am-6pm). There’s camping at the dunes just below for $10 a night if this place doesn’t work out.

Report Check-In

As described, a little ATV noise below but otherwise quiet at night. Great view. Probably not a good spot if it's windy. I walked to the campground below the dune-- very noisy with ATVs and RV generators.

Report Check-In

Very quiet night. Great views. nice hike path down to the dunes.

Report Check-In

Perfect! Quiet, no problems, beautiful view.

Report Check-In

Spent one night here, very nice views and no one bothered me. No bathrooms but there are public out toilets about a mile down the road.

Report Check-In

Edit: The signs just forbid parking right in front of the fence, they don't relate to the parking lot.

Report Check-In

Still allowed - I initially thought it was closed because of the no parking signs below the lighthouse, but they just refer to the other side of the street.
Very beautiful at night; also very busy.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 1 night in a roof top tent. Would not stay again. There was 6 other vehicles overnighting there in a small parking lot that is clearly not for camping. There was also vehicles in and out of the parking lot till 11pm.

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Easy parking. 2 other vans here. 2 bars of Verizon. The lighthouse is very cool at night.

Report Check-In

Got here around 7, no car's until after 8:30. Even though extremely foggy, 3-4 cars came & went to view the light house until around 10. Hardly any through traffic on this road. I was the only car that stayed, it was very peaceful. The parking area is paved & I had 3 bars verizon

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. Very peaceful. Only one other camper overnighted with us although cars came in and out for the view. The lighthouse is magical at night.

Report Check-In

Great spot as described. Plenty of spaces here. Museum, coffee shop, gift shop and lighthouse and free overnight parking are the main draw. Lots of people came for sunset, then moved on. We woke to a long travel bus, and two vans beside our expedition vehicle. Lovely long sunset views. Some ohv noise down below you in the tubes, but it stops around sunset. Lovely 1 mile hike nearby around serene Lake Marie. Local bars & seafood restaurants a mile of two away in the marina area. Loads of campgrounds there too, but why not park for free with a better view!! Would certainly stay here again.

Report Check-In

Ample parking for big or small rigs. Beautiful view of the ocean (perks if you get there before sunset-it’s surreal!). Views of the lighthouse (still got it’s lights so make sure to have window covers) and would highly reccomend ear plugs as you can hear the sirrens pretty much all night!

Report Check-In

I would not recommend staying here on a Saturday night. We pulled in around sunset and got some sleep, however locals seem to use it as a party spot until 2:30 in the morning. They had no issue walking up to and around our van. It made for a miserable and slightly scary experience.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view on the dunes and ocean. No sign prohibiting camping.
Very calm place!

Très belle vue sur les dunes et l'océan. Aucun signe interdisant le camping.
Très calme!

Long gravel overlook in front of the lighthouse. I didn’t see any no parking signs. One bar Verizon. Beautiful view. ATV activity below on dunes regularly but quiet at night. Beautiful sunset. Park on North side away from interpretative sign for less traffic. Great site. No one bothered me.
