we were stopped by the Nicaraguan military for a passport control and vehicle papers (tip). remember to present the entry ticket to Nicaragua with the stamp.
Copies of all were enough.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Crossed this checkpoint two times. Both times they stopped us (different guys) and checked our papers (when did we cross the boarder etc) and looked in our van. Everything was fine and they were ok nice. They let us go without any issues, so no problem for us :)Report Check-In
They were friendly enough. Checked my TIP, passport, and asked about where I was going. They also asked me to delete any video I had of them (which I did). If you’re heading this way, just stop your GoPro in your tank bag.Report Check-In
Arrived at the check point late (i.e. in the dark) owing to the time it took to cross the border and got stopped by the military. It immediately felt off with the x3 men being super unfriendly and not really engaging with us. They proceeded to search every bag we had on the motorbikes, even going through Individual bags within the bags (i.e. our toiletry bag and a cloth bag with electronics!). They also moved stuff around, tried to distract us whilst going through the bags and tried to separate us as they searched. The boss leafed through our documents folder also but I managed to grab it from him before he found a small stash of emergency dollars. They did take an apple, a bar of Colombian chocolate and some altitude medicine but that felt OK to lose in the circumstances. We have since learned to just tell the army straight away that you have a reservation at the hostel / hotel nearby and this avoids issues!Report Check-In
Got stopped and asked for our original documents as they did not accept copies.
Also they asked for a reservation. We told them we want to camp at the Blue Morpho Ecolodge. Eventually they let us through. Sometimes they call the hotels to verify reservations so make sure you have one.
They wanted to see our passports (copies are okay) and take a look inside our van. Not very friendly but okay.Report Check-In
they wanted to check ALL our papers for the van and us and the dog. they did a search of the van too. wanted all our entry paperwork. felt like a lot just to come to a camp spot.Report Check-In
