Magali and Carlos are simply the best! Incredibly kind people who made me feel very welcome and at home. They genuinely love hosting and meeting guests from around the world and showing them their little slice of paradise. It's a quiet place to rest and relax with birdsong and a variety of pets to keep you company. Not to mention Magali cooks amazing food with most of the ingredients grown at home! I'm so glad I decided to stop here and had this lovely encounter.

I stopped here for dinner. Soup with a meaty second. Pretty good flavor, but you have to like a lot of spices.

Good fruit juice, too. Again, he uses a lot of added flavors, and it was a little too much for me. But I ate and drank everything.

Very friendly host and quite the nice place.

It costed me 50 soles for a room for one person: private room (with 3 beds) and shared bath. I think prices goes down if you are additional people as they were 3 beds in the room.
Food was absolutely delicious!

Note: the road has been redone last year, so it is actually in a pretty good condition.

W/o derail place to break up the drive. We originally planned to stay one night, but did two. Unfortunately, vehicles can’t enter their garden area but we safely parked on the grass just outside their property by the main road. Very safe.

Showers are hot and bathrooms very clean!

They dont charge for camping, but Magaly cooks amazing meals and they do sell home made essential oils. We only bought one, but regret not picking up another!

We spent 2 nights here. Owners Magaly & Carlos made us feel incredibly welcome at their home. Beautiful, tranquil spot to recover for a couple of nights. Currently there are 2 twin rooms (each with a double & single beds) in use, sharing 1 bathroom. 38 soles per person per night. Very basic, rather small rooms but lots of blankets provided and lovely hot shower. Magaly prepares delicious home cooked meals with most ingredients straight from their garden or farm. Route 106 was one of the most beautiful roads taken and a must do but tough going. You do need decent clearance. Took us 4 hours from Yungay to Illariy. You can contact Malagy on +51 929 354 101

It was closed when we where there. We were told that the owners were in Lima for a few days. Looks like a great place to stay. They also have a fenced grass field where you can park your car or maybe camp? En few minutes further down the road (driving west) there is a pull out where you can camp, mostly hidden from the road (this place was indicated by locals).

It's a wonderful sight to see after a hard climb and going down the mountains road. Very secluded place. 30 soles for room with 2 beds. Shared bathrooms. Clean and nice. Or you can pitch a tent at their nice garden. Trout was not in season so I had tuna with tea from plant they picked from the garden. Hot shower not working when I was there. They run out of gas. Other than that perfect place.

Stopped for a coffee & quick egg sandwich at this little cafe with a very sweet owner who is happy to chat with you and show you her beautiful flower garden. Snacks, water, coffee, TP, etc. + guest house ideal if you want to start hiking the Santa Cruz trek early the next morning.
