nice place friendly family we paid 2.- per day. that means if you sleep there and let the car parked for the hike you have to pay 2.- again. but its fine and really secure. quite at night. for the hike just follow the described infos...and the trek is also on maps me...you can not miss it. the best ia to start early.... arround 4 am...then you can reach the top at 8am and have a great view over the valley, cayambe atisana and cotopaxi...arround midday the clouds will cover the top. wich is not really nice..because walking in wind and rain will be a bit dangerous when the rocks are wet. verry nice hike. but steep. it took us 7 hours with break.

The family that own the house next to this have started taking campers (flat ground for both tents and vans, toilet and cold showers). According to locals it's still free 15m further on from the house. We wanted to use the bathroom etc and didn't want to be rude so camped at the house. The daughter said it was $5 per van/tent or $2.5 per person as we had 4 people (2 in tent and 2 in a van). Then when we had stayed the night and were setting off hiking the woman chased us up the hill to ask for $20 per car/tent. We told her we were not going to pay that and she agreed to the $5 per van/tent. Then when we went to leave she asked for a further $5 as we were leaving late as we had been hiking. We again said we weren't going to pay that and they eventually agreed. Easy place with very basic facilities but would agree price with the older lady for $5 and leaving time in advance or camp for free a bit further on. Very steep hill with cobbles on the way up.

HIKING INFORMATION: You climb an easy but very steep trail over grassy meadows to a saddle at 4300mts (1:45hrs.) Then rock scrambling starts (no rope necessary but use of hands). Do not continue when afraid of heights! After 2:45 you get to a pre-summit at 4580m 0.261609 -78.178537 with splendit views. Here a short but extremenly steep downwards scrambling starts. The last kilometer is an easy and rather level trail. At the summit after 3:30hrs. / the return is 2:45hrs. ALL WALKING TIMES without stops for fit and well aclimatised hikers. The climb took us (with stops) 8hrs. / P.S. We hiked up to the blue reservoir and continued straight up, so we never saw a white house as described in the main text. P.P.S. It is a 1300m climb and the distance is 5.3kms one way.
