Description

Huge spot with lots of places to park. Big rig friendly. Saw a few buses here. Gorgeous Mountain Views and sunsets. No amenities on site other than rock-made fire pits. But just up the street, there’s a campground with water and a dump station just outside their entrance. A few of us at Dog Canyon used that with no issues.

Fantastic spot for the night. Decently populated but very spread out. Someone’s car alarm went off in the middle of the night but it seemed accidental rather than a break in. The sunrise is beautiful over the mountains

We used the second entrance with our 38' 5 the wheel. First entrance had some of the road washed out. Found a nice spot facing the mountains. Beautiful sunsets. A few folks like like they have been there awhile but we felt safe the four nights we were there. Watch for broken glass. Can't beat the view and easy access to White Sands, El Paso, Alamogordo and Cloudcroft.

A couple of fairly minor washouts at the south entrance and a washout/tight spot on the track from the north entrance. I was still able to get through easily enough with our 34 ft class A, taking it slow. We found a nice big spot for the two rigs to share.

Safe and nice location. Arrived at sunset and a few others but plenty of room! I brought my dog also, she enjoyed it but definitely keep an eye out as there is snakes

Really nice area for a night or week. Lots of room for all size vehicles. Verizon cell service was good enough to stream, and if you face the right direction, I was able to pick up 20+ tv channels with a cheap antenna.

Even when this place feels packed, there is room. It's definitely understood that privacy is in your tent or rig, not outside. I found a little cul de sac to myself though, which was lovely.

Perfect location to stay overnight and then visit White Sands National Park (about 25 minutes away). Beautiful area and the sunsets were fantastic!

Big rig friendly. There are large areas if you feel comfortable with that as well as more individual turn offs along the road where you're a bit more to yourself (which we chose).

Stopped here for a quick overnight, ended up staying 2 weeks! There are many spots in this area to choose from, roads are a bit rocky but very manageable. A lot of dirt roads for walking or biking. Beautiful mountain views. Close enough to town for a quick run for supplies. Although there were a lot of campers it was very quiet and I rarely heard anyone. TMobile service was good.

Stunning views and sunsets. A few others here, but quiet and respectful to each others plot. Been here for 4-nights and feels safe. Easy access for all types of vehicles.

Terrain is iffy but doable. Busy but quiet. Feels relatively safe. Conveniently close to the state park for water and showers.

as described, a great place to camp. we easily got our 20 ft trailer in and parked for a week.

if you look on satellite view Google maps it also comes up as a dispersed site and you can see the ground, most of it flat, we had no problem. we unhitched and visited the attractions around Alamogordo with no worry about leaving the camper behind. it's a nice little community of travelers. most people, all in vastly different rigs, stayed for a few days or more. one guy has been here for almost a month.

state park campground down the road makes it so easy to fill up water there and has a nice little hike, 5$ day use.

nobody bothered us, we did see a rattler on our first day, big sucker too. just be alert if you have dogs, which many people did.

Quiet except for several RVs running their darn generators. Pretty. Been here a few days with a revolving maybe 12 other vans and rvers. I paid five dollars for day pass for a shower/toilet/shave a mile up at the campground.

Great Dispersed Camping. Pulled up after dark and still many sites available. A few others staying here as well- even some tent campers! Free and safe.

The site was as described by previous travelers and it was great for our first dispersed camping experience on our way from TexS to Arizona. We loved it!
