Something not right?

Description

Beautiful peninsula with two established fire pits and a few beaches. Nice gravel road with several flat areas to park. Dispersed camping allowed with $10 permit good for 3 days. Haven’t seen another human soul in two days, but did see a large flock of ducks (over 50) yesterday evening hunting their dinner. Lovely spot! Definitely would come back. Purchase camping permits online, link provided. Oh, and decent T-Mobile cell service too!

Latest Check-Ins

Nice location near to water with small steep boat launching site. One spot at tip of peninsula. It was occupied. We drove down to a out of sight from there other spot near the water.

Was taken aback when purchasing “dispersed camping permit” posts all say $10. Well it’s actually $10 PER PERSON. Makes a cheap camp spot expensive really fast. Wish I’d known in advance… Now ya know.

Trees, Lots of poison ivy about, careful where you walk. Not too private as open kind of space and open to the water. Daytime many fishing boat zooming by, a few barges, and after dark boats with a ton of big lights cruising close to shore. At first I thought it was a lit 4x4 then realized it was on the water.

large grassy area overlooking Lake Barkley. Right below the camping area is a small beach. Established fire pit with grate. 5 bars 4G with ATT. $10 permit required and is good for 3 days. Smooth gravel road leads to the site from the main road. Site was large enough for our Jeep Gladiator and roof top tent.

Little grassy area right above beach overlooking Lake Barkley. Large fire pit. 5 bars of 4G with ATT. It was very windy, wet and about 25°F the one night we stayed so getting a fire going was difficult, but we still really enjoyed this spot.

Has some great spots for tent camping with fire pits, a bit buggy but the wind coming off the river tends to keep them at bay. My neighbors on the eastern side of the peninsula reported great fishing, plenty o' catfish at least.

Lovely island all to ourselves. Well worth the trip.
