Description

This is a museum dedicated to the mining history of Kansas, the centerpiece of which is a 16-story tall earth mover that weighs in at 11 million pounds!!! And yes, you can camp here! There are 10 sites that are appropriate for tent camping (a little wet this time of year) up to 30/50 amp hook-ups.

Easy in and out, and you get a cool view of Big Brutus all night. There is a whole museum here staffed by very nice people. If you are tent camping, they will leave showers/bathrooms open for you.

Tent camping $8
30 amp $20
50 amp $25
And this seems to include admission as well, though we got here late in the day and haven’t gone in yet.
If you’re in this area for the night, you’ve gotta stop. It’s cool!!!

Wow! This place is great. Hot showers and clean bathrooms. We were the only campers here. No traffic at night. Got really good sleep. And the prices are great and the museum is awesome! So glad we came!

Got here just as they were closing up at 5pm, but Susan, the staffer closing was nice enough to get me set up! Great find, very clean, beautiful grounds, very quiet, I don't think any cars drive by all night! Well worth $20 for a hot/humid summer night so I could have A/C! And showers and free wifi to boot! Asked if was OK to pull In after hours and pay in the AM, and most certainly ok. Camping fee does not however include admission to museum. Well worth the extra $ to tour the grounds and climb up into Big Brutus!
