Description

Large, lit up, and somewhat secluded boat launch with no signs saying you can’t camp overnight. Came down here and there was only one other car for the night. Second night a very friendly cop came down to make sure we weren’t doing anything we shouldn’t, after saying we were travelling and just looking for a place to sleep he said that there is nothing wrong with staying down here and that we could stay for a few nights. Had another guy come down in the morning who seems to have made it his job to patrol the boat launch and let us know about some sort of “gamelord” Lol. He came down a couple of times, seems harmless, kinda funny. They have a big dumpster so if you see any rubbish please pick it up, the earth will thank you :) saw a couple of cute stray cats and a cute little skunk. The bathrooms are kind of gross but more private than outside, might be locked depending on the day. It can get pretty busy in the day, but we had a couple nights completely alone! About 5 minutes from a gas station and 15 minutes from a nice little city (Hickory, NC) I definitely recommend this place!

Was one of two vehicles to stay the night. A few others showed up in the morning, including the sheriff. He didn't even talk to me, but was friendly and waved. In late and out early is the best practice.

Easy access off of the local hwy, yet still secluded and quite enough. Well, lite area with bathrooms too. I stayed for one night with heavy rain, and it still seemed to be a late night hangout area. But everyone kept to themselves. I would definitely stay here again.

I'm a local across the street. it's normally a good place Burke County Sheriff Dept are actually pretty good and friendly, parking lot I never seen full. the back right corner usually someone or a few just hang out up their, probably still good catfishing

Place was a little chaotic. It seemed to be a big hang out for a lot of locals. People out there all night. One at 5:30 am doing donuts. I felt ok staying. It was a beautiful spot with a lake but probably wouldn’t stay again

Report Check-In

Very nice location, not too busy on a Sunday evening.

Trying to add a picture of the sign that states no campers, RVs, tents.

Report Check-In

This place is clearly marked no camping, no RVs, no tents.

Exactly as previously described.Great place to swim the dogs or cast some fishing lines. Lots of evening fishing boats and friendly locals.

This seems to be a local hang out but quieted down later at night. I did some magnet fishing and cleaned up some trash. It had a beautiful sunrise. No one bothered me.

Great spot with a nice view of a big lake. We arrived around 4:30pm on Saturday in our Sprinter campervan. Plenty of parking spaces were open. There were probably 5 other cars in the lot for the night. No issues with overnight parking. There are pit toilets and a dumpster.

As described. Large well lit parking lot overlooking a lake. There were about 6 or 7 locals here until 1am ish doing whatever it is people in cars hanging around in parking lots do... But they were quiet and nobody gave us any trouble. We were so grateful to have a nice quiet spot like this after roughing it at busy truck stops for the last few nights. The sunrise over the water was a nice view to wake up to as well. There are facilities for disposing of trash and some outhouses too. Recommended.

Pulled in with our medium size camper at about 9pm on a Friday night and it was warm. Several cars and people around hanging out. A bit of occasional noise until midnight or 1ish. (Car revving, occasional loud talking, cat yeowling, etc, but no drama. No one bothered us. Beautiful, quiet sunrise the next morning. All in all it was a pretty good quick and free overnight stop.
