Little reservoir a few kms above Santa Maria del Río. When I asked a policewoman in town she said it should be fine to park up here. Not optimal in that while there are several flattish places to park up, most are fairly exposed and visible from the road - I found one slightly more sheltered one big enough for an average sized van at the marked spot, but it's something of a rubbish dump.
There was a surprising amount of traffic on the small road into the hills till late at night, mostly motorbikes and a few pickups. A guy scared me by knocking on the van at 9pm or so (thought I was totally alone!); he said he was the guardian of the area, just checking that all was well. A passing police car also stopped off, super friendly though and had no worries about me staying here - they offered to give me the number of the commandancia in case. Peaceful night otherwise, pretty area and great starry sky!
I had no phone reception where I was parked, but there was a bit a couple of minutes' stroll towards the water. No facilities of any kind, though it looks like a little drinks/snacks stand is in the process of being erected nearby.
