No issues driving through on a Saturday. No roadblocks. There were a couple spots where kids had ropes and would ask for money. But nothing intimidating and usually just trying to sell snacksReport Check-In
Passed without any problem on motorcycle from Palenque to San Cristobal between 9am and 2pm. Only about 50km after Palenke there were 2 women and boy with a rope. Wanted 20mex i gave 10mex.Report Check-In
We drove from Palenque to San Cristobal today. Checked in with GN and policia estatal in Palenque who told us route is now open and safe. GN told us to only drive during day.
We left Palenque at 11am and got to San Cristobal at about 530pm. The drive was beautiful but not my favorite. About 40km outside Palenque we encountered 4 ropes with people demanding we buy their dried plaintains or pay them a 50p toll. We politely declined to pay or buy and instead gave the kids at the rope a few stickers. After about 2 minutes of holding our ground, they relented and dropped the ropes.
A bit closer to Ososingo there was a bunch of construction with up to 20m delays.
From Ososingo to Guadelupe there are at least 200 topes. It's the worst tope section of road I've driven. There are some parts of the road where there is a poorly engineered and rough tope ever 50m. Its extremely annoying.
However besides the agressive vendors with the ropes near Palenque, we had no issues with safety, corruption, or locals demanding tolls.
This road is passable again. Just check with the local cops and other travelers before you go.Report Check-In
Nobody here today. the road was long but beautiful and safe. Lot of work site between agua azul and ocoxingo.Report Check-In
We came through here on February 2nd during day. There was a group that had a rope with a board with nails across the road. Had my $20 pecos ready gave it to them and we were on our way. They were handing out flyers but this was the only roadblock in this area.Report Check-In
