Nice little National Park campground. Super clean bathrooms. Lots of burrs in the grass, so don't go barefoot and watch out if camping in a tent.

It's nice to be a bit back from the surf - the dunes cut down the wind quite a bit.

We stayed 6 nights. My kids were scared to free-camp on the beach. Main issue is the huge class A's and 5th wheelers with their generators running all day, but at least there are quiet hours in the evening.

Decent boondock sites. $14 per night or $7 with senior national park pass. Right behind the dunes from the gulf. First come first serve.
If full you can boondock camp on the beach just to the north.

If you have the means to park on the beach I would but this is great for anyone who wants to be near the beach and not drive on the beach. With America the beautiful interagency pass I paid no park entry fees and camping here was only $7.00 a night. No shells, lots of jellyfish, but was nice and felt very safe.

The small "parking lot" style campground was full when we arrived midweek, but the camp host offered us the "overflow" spot at the northern end of the campground, next to three tent sites. A quiet place indeed, with only the sound of the ocean; fortunately nobody nearby ran any generators after hours.
The campground and the visitor center have flush toilets but only cold showers; visitor center showers were still under construction. Convenient dump and potable water location on the campground entrance road.
Beach was firm enough to ride ebikes, and also firm enough to drive a vehicle on, as several campers had done near the South Beach entrance. We didn't tempt fate by driving our 4WD Sprinter onto the beach since the park ranger explained that the sand worked like quicksand on heavy vehicles.
