There is a long paved pullout on the eastbound side of Hwy 550 where big rigs camp. It is accessible if you're traveling westbound as there's no median, but there isn't a designated turning lane, so use caution.
There is a gravel road that crosses a cattle grate that leads to more spots where you can get more privacy and quiet.

The area behind the cattle guard is quite wide open for bigger rigs. The area adjacent to the road is nice and level. We put down levelers but didn’t really need it. A lot of road noise but it go fairly low trafficked after midnight. I imagine if you drove in further, the trees would block a lot of the noise.
Given the dried ruts, I bet it’s a little sporting after a rain.
Report Check-InThere's snow on the ground so many of the other spots in the area weren't accessible to us. This long pullout was plowed. We stayed the night without issue.
