Something not right?

Description

Paved road to island, then a few dirt offshoots into the BLM land. Look for signs for Shooters to make sure you are on BLM land, and not private. Does appear to be a popular spot to shoot guns, although there are also a lot of fire pits, so some people camp here also. No one else was here when I was.

Good strong Verizon LTE signal.

Latest Check-Ins

I do not recommend camping on the Southern end of Stansbury Island as there are several active gun ranges. There are a lot of 4x4 / hiking trails on the island and even petroglyphs. When I venture outside my vehicle on the island, I wear conspicuous clothing and politely announce my presence to fellow marksmen in my proximity for safety.

This place is really not worth it. Every single place to pull off the road that isn't private property is a shooting pit. Not great for camping. I am here on weekdays. People were here until 9pm last night shooting, and more showed up by 9am.

If you want peaceful camping, not a great place, even in the middle of the week.

If you want to shoot your guns, great place. if you find a spot without other people.

I went here and the island is very tricky. the area looks like it's an old gravel pit. and it looked like the locals just go there and wreak havoc. don't bother to drive up all the way like I did to the end of the road it's all private property. or the other side of the island its the same thing. to be honest I would not bother trying to Camp here unless you really needed a spot.

We may not have technically been in BLM, but we were alone and unbothered! Definitely a spot for people to come shoot their guns, but on the weekday it was quiet. The road out is paved but bumpy, and there are many offshoot roads to find a spot! About 15 minutes from the highway and 45 from Salt Lake City!

Someone has set up camp in an RV - not accessible due to snow at this time of year.
