Something not right?

Description

Nice campground spread out all along this road. Not sure how many sites but all looked to be right along the creek. Deep into the canyon walls, bamboo, trees, significantly cooler than the dispersed sites on the other side of the mountain.

We stayed at site #8 which was large enough to park 2 vans a Sprinter and promaster. Had picnic table, bear box on upper level, middle level was a campfire ring and hangout area, lower went down to creek. Caught a couple small brook trout with the fly.

$7 a night or $3.50 with Senior/access pass. Totally worth it!

Busy. I couldn’t find an open spot on a Monday morning. Hmm. Beautiful canyon though!

One of my favorite national forest developed campsites in Colorado/New Mexico. North Crestone creek roars about 20 yds behind most of the campsites and closer to sites as venture up towards the last 5 sites. Gorgeous spot just below 14k’ peaks of the Sangres. Each site has bear boxes, tables, and fire rings. Joyful Journey hot springs is only 20min away and groceries, gas, & a couple restaurants are available less than 10 min away in the town of Crestone. Only real downside is the aggressive mosquitoes who are relentless, so be prepared. Views of the San Luis valley are incredible from here and the Great Sand Dunes are about 35 min drive. $7 a night or $3.50 with NP anual pass.
