Something not right?

Description

A few public picnic tables and a historical marker next to a small substation right next to the highway. Did not stay overnight but appears to be a viable one-night stop. For miles in every direction it is private ranch land but the stop is clearly for public use. Space for several cars/vans and maybe could fit a big rig.

Very dark and quiet at 8:30 pm. Flat areas to park. Enough room for at least 3-6 rigs depending on size.

Great place for an overnight! Rolled in late and slept in and no one bothered us. Stopped on our way to Santa Fe and shared the space with two semis. Very large gravel lot. Wouldn’t be ideal for tent camping but it would be okay.

Not a bad spot. Plenty of places to fit. Stopped here for over night. Only one other person stopped during the night. There is road noise but not bad and quiets down during the night. Pretty barren so got windy in the morning. Elevation is 6,330’

An appealing spot to overnight. The highway traffic was loud—not frequent; but when trucks passed by there wasnt much to muffle the sound—but died down after dark and didn’t pick up again before we left around 8am. There are some big trees which make for evening and/or morning shad (not much to be done midday). Good breeze over the plains so pleasant sleeping. Relatively flat. 2 bars VZN LTE.

Solid spot. Weekday night car camp and no others around. Two picnic tables, nice big trees, gravel/blacktop with grass. Enough room for 2-4 big rigs cause there is a nice, long spot. Can see the stars too.

Report Check-In

Gravel lot designated picnic area. Some traffic goes by, but nothing a little white noise won’t drown. Historical markers. Picnic tables. No restrooms or anything else. Nice vast views. Partial deer limb rested on picnic table. Other than that some trash strewn about.

Throughly enjoyed the quiet overnight stay. Spectacular views including sunrise and sunset. As OP said, it’s the only place in the area for many miles.
