Description

Big Rock with open area to turn around on. This is crown land. There is cattle grazing happening all around this place on the other side of the fences. There is also evidence that cattle have been moved across the turn around area. The Rock itself has been "tagged" and there is some indications that the locals hang around here. Only noise is the train. Huge sky in all directions and I could see this place being windy.

Arrive during daylight if you can so you can see where the cattle have been. It's not smelly in any way.

Dirt road to get here is pretty rutted up. A bit of ground clearance is needed. Light vehicles could manage it if you go slow. It's likely a very muddy road after a rain.

Keep dogs on leash if there are cattle around.

No posted signs about camping of any kind.

Crown land as described. Flat open area at the end of the road with the big rock. Passed some cows on the way in and noted some 'no tresspassing' signs on the fences so stay to the road. Train runs somewhat nearby but otherwise very quiet. Beauty spot.

Please leave your camp cleaner than when you arrived.

Wonderful private spot - needed 4Wd to get down the road - a little muddy but at the site was super nice. Watching lightning in the distance - a herd of cows came by and layed down at the fence - heard some coyotes yipping - I feel alive!

Nice big empty place. Good sunset. No one else here. Road in could be tricky if wet- big dry ruts! We were OK in Ford van.

As described by others, beautiful location just off Highway 2. Had the space to myself and really enjoyed the privacy for my first night of crown land camping. Very soft highway noise and trains to be heard alongside the moos (cows).

If you want peace stop sleeping there! We find Big Rock via 2, a little no where dirt road that seems to lead nowhere. IT TAKES a 4x4 vehicle do not try with a Corola there are roadways it will not pass and if it rains even less! Slept very well tonight!
