Latest Check-Ins

Passed by when the shop was closed, so asked for water (I'm a cyclist and it was hot). Was told they don't have drinking water besides the bottled water they sell (a lie, I know). 300ml soft drinks were 30N$. I can't recommend supporting suhh dishonesty in any way. Go 11km south to Goais Camp for honest people.

Report Check-In

Nice place, spacious and clean ablution, free Wifi at the restaurant, we could use without having eaten there. 10 Min walk uphill for nice sunset (sundowner trail).
Warm showers by donkey heater but announced that it wil be not heatened in the morning. For us fine.

Report Check-In

Dont stop here for coffee or apple pie. Place is highly overrated. Not so good coffee and apple pie was ok, but quite expensive. Apple Pie and coffee at solitaire cheaper and much better.

Report Check-In

Nice, shaded garden to have a break. Good coffee and pie. Staff was very friendly. Clean toilets.

Report Check-In

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We camped for 2 nights. Beautiful area. We wish to thank the owners, Björn and Katja, for making our 2 day stay pleasurable. They serve delicious food, exquisite Apple Cake.

There is a certain mystique about this little town.

Report Check-In

We arrived at sunset. Two punctures coming from Luderitz let us late in the evening. Very unfriendly welcome. No electricity, no hot water, no Wifi, but 240 pp. Terrible expensive for such a bad service. We left to nearby Goais Camp.

Report Check-In

Would strongly encourage you to not to stay here. At 220 with enough hot water for a splash it is expensive. We arrived, had overpriced food and tiny coffees. Lasagne was poorly microwaved and like cardboard on top. Apple cake is good. We were told some tables were reserved for a party but were not told there would be no food available. We were made to feel very unwelcome, especially when I went in to tell them someone had left their car lights on. Lots of yelling and fighting heard late into the night. It’s not pleasant to pay 220 for a 4 minute shower and to be treated as a nuisance and then listen to reprobates all night

Report Check-In

Seeing the welcoming signs of an old world hotel in the quiet lttle town of Helmeringshasuen was a sight for sore eyes. However that is where the welcome stopped! Having been on the road for 2 hours one's first thoughts were for a toilet but we were stopped & advised that they were for paying customers only. When we walked in, a lovely wood fire burnt and again it felt welcoming. But confusion seemed to reign when we ordered our breakfast. When it arrived it was as if no specific order had been placed in the kitchen and two plates of near raw eggs were presented, despite a request for one hard and one medium fried eggs had been written meticulously by the waiter. While waiting for the remediation of this, I wandered over to a fridge which presented beverages and was interested to see a craft beer I had not seen before in Namibia. I reached to open the door when the voice of a German lady admonished me by saying "...tell your waiter what you want... this is not self service"! I responded by saying I wanted to read the label to which she replied "well, quickly open the door....we operate on solar power...".  I can appreciate this but messaging in marketing is everything and these experiences as well as other negative signs such as "No split bills",  "This is not a book swop", "To use the toilets you need to buy a coffee..." leaves one feeling most unwelcome. Also, Bella, the dog is lovely, but I don't want to be forced to have her sit at the table licking and begging. Despite numerous requests no one wanted to take her away and the German lady seemed ambivalent at the nuisance the dog was causing. Overall, not a pleasant experience!

Report Check-In

We stayed alone at the campsite. Nice braai area with kitchen sink. Hot water for the shower with donkey in the evening.
Nice sundowner walk with amazing views, at the sundowner place are chairs and a table.
In the afternoon we had the best apple cake in Namibia in the shady garden of the restaurant.

Report Check-In

Camping with restaurant serving interesting food in beautiful garden. I disagree with the previous comment about high prices, they are similar to elsewhere. We wish we had stayed here than in Beta (unfriendly manager), so only stopped for coffee and excellent apple cake. And ended up taking away butternut quiche and salad for lunch! Campsite looks good and is ND220 for overseas and pay what you can for SADEC!!

Report Check-In

I can only confirm: food prices at the restaurants are too expensive for what you get. I just had lunch here and I cannot recommend. Atmosphere is really nice though and great for a break. Did not stay over night.

Report Check-In

Now 220 per person. Overpriced fir what you get. No electricity.

Camp places are clean and big. Good for big rig.

Food available at the hotel restaurant but again over priced fir what you get.

Wifi available inside the hotel but doesn’t reach campsites.

Donkey boiler for hot water in the evening Only.

Report Check-In

Exceeded expectations after reading previous comments! I was the only one here due to Covid - Camping was ‘pay what you can’, restaurant and bar was open until 6pm only (as so quiet) - i didn’t eat but had a nice cold beer, facilites are great - clean, hot water powered by fire and lots of braai spots. Was given wifi code no problem which worked pretty well at the bar. Was looked after really well and a convenient stop.

Report Check-In

We stopped for lunch there and it was quite overpriced (bratwurst at 135NAD with gem squash instead of cabbage that waiter didn't inform us about, lasagne at 70NAD that looked defrosted). Coffee was at 28NAD and we had to serve ourselves from a coffee flask that stood there many hours and cups that were minature. Definitely not worth a stop over.

Report Check-In

Apple cake is good but the food is very over priced. We just had lunch so we didn't stay long.

Report Check-In

It's now 215 NAD ppn. Did not stay here.

Report Check-In

We enjoyed the apple cake, lunch menu was otherwise okay.

Report Check-In

Definitely not the Best Apple Cake in Namibia. There’s better & bigger portions at Solitaire and cheaper too.

Report Check-In

Basic campsite in yard next to hotel, no electric all small sites next to road apart from one at rear, very expensive at 400nad for two people

Report Check-In

This place is overpriced and overrated. N$200 pp and they won't even give you the wifi password because it's "only for guests in a room" (only one of which was occupied). I had to basically beg for it. Bad customer service too, they didn't even show me the campsite or point out where anything is, just took my money. The campsite has no electricity or lights (at least I couldn't find any) but is otherwise fine. Maybe they should focus less on bragging about their apple cake and more on customer service.

Report Check-In

Nice small campsite - very quiet. Now free wifi for guests. Clean facilities - bar and restaurant too
