Something not right?

Description

3 sites with fire rings and picnic tables. Pit toilet. No shade. We were the only people here. Quiet and peaceful night's sleep. BLM recommends high clearence, there are some sketchy mud pits if wet. Very spotty Verizon coverage.

Mixed drive in - but all ok on a dry day - washes and driving in sandy trail could be a bad day it wet weather…

Gets narrow and brushy for a bit - and that is in a wash you drive both ways. Meeting people would be no fun in there
Driving in the roughest part in 4WD is nice - not required; would say you can’t go in a big rig and maybe only good for small trailer/campers too - you will be scraping the sides on brush for sure…
Very low cell bars on ATT - probably all
Nice big 3.5 mile (2000 foot rise) hike starts here; 7 mile out/back trip.
Gnats galore in March, cover your beer between sips
We are out here alone in great weather - color me a bit shocked, but it is a Monday (also spring break, though)

Driving in is a mixed bag - gravel, sandy, rocky, wide, narrow, and then up hill, and a little rough

In good weather and dry, you would not need 4wd - but we turned it on anyway - it’s easier on the Sprinter all loaded down for adventure…
We barely have (ATT) cell service with a WeBoost up and on.

Level - secluded - only for shorter vehicles up to sprinter sized - would not be

Stay is limited to 5 nights. I stayed for 5 and had company only once, but there were day hikers on a couple of days as well that parked in the campground. After 5 nights, I drove across the big wash behind the campground (not for the faint-hearted...road gets bad) and found a small but gorgeous campsite about a quarter of a mile from the campground. I stayed there another 12 nights and saw ONE other person. Great hiking, beautiful scenery and very private. Pretty much heaven. The road in was mostly good but traversed several washes, a couple of which were deep/steep enough so my rig touched bottom, and I do have 4x4 and high clearance. I suspect these conditions vary depending on the season and weather.

Stayed one night at campground. Arrived about 530 pm on a Monday night. We were the only ones here. Beautiful views and easy access to the trail. Road in was not too bad. We have high clearance and 4wd but it would not have been necessary.
