This is a large, gravel lot off the 101 that is mostly flat. Sign clearly states “NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING”. It is right before the “Sea Lions Cave” attraction and during the day has overflow parking from that but at night is empty. (To be clear, it is near the tourist spot, but is not affiliated - it’s a highway pulloff.) Quiet enough to sleep, near the ocean, with some trees & bushes, and full AT&T service.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is a safe place to catch a couple Z’s if you arrive late in the evening and leave early in the morning, but you will need to expect to be harassed by rangers or police at a moments notice. There is a very clear sign here they states “NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING”. At the time of this writing it was a very clean place to park a vehicle, which says a lot about how it is patrolled, especially considering how close it is and how it is used for overflow parking for the sea lion caves. Boon-dock at your own risk for more than a few hours and after sun-up.
P.S. South of here in Florence Oregon in old-town next to Mo’s restaurant is a decent place to throw a crab pot in. There are gates that are magnetic and will open for you from sun up to sun-down. Watch the tides as they will get VERY SWIFT at times which will make it VERY DIFFICULT to pull your pots up. We caught 2 crabs in 2 hours. Enjoy!
Report Check-InCamped in our SUV here on a rainy night. It felt relatively safe as there wasn’t a lot going on and also because there was good T-mobile service (LTE/5G).
Very few vehicles drove past at night and it wasn’t noisy. It was raining heavily at times and was windy throughout the night and was calming in it’s own way.
The sea cave facility is closed at night so no restrooms until 9am. Short drive from Florence to grab food and etc.
There was a “no overnight parking” sign at least 10 feet off of the lot on one of the trees but no one bothered us at night so it didn’t seem that it’s heavily enforced here.
Report Check-InSpent the night without any problems, was a bit loud but it had great t-mobile service
Report Check-InThis is a large gravel pull off area just South of the Sea Lion Caves. Unfortunately there is a No overnight parking sign.
Report Check-InThere is a “No overnight parking” sign but we had no problems staying just one night. Quiet enough to sleep through even if it is off the 101. Great cell service for both ATT&T and Verizon. Perfect just for rest, nothing more.
